I made the mistake of reading some of the comments when I started watching…I did not feel any snobbery….i enjoyed the video…

Every video these guys do they bring up the horrific Jacob and Co. 5 zone like its some kind of grail.  Its a horrific mess of a watch fro a joke of a brand.

This Lex guy feels like another fly-by-night guy who will do anything for hype. He clearly has strong marketing skills, but collecting vintage watches and cars is supposed to be about culture, history, knowledge, and respect for what these pieces represent, not just being seen with them.
What bothers me is that it feels like he intentionally put together a collection to create an image and become known as a “collector,” rather than the collection developing naturally from years of passion and curiosity. Now he’s trying to force his way into a culture that took decades to build and turn it into another hype-driven scene.
The Miami Watch Club and now the upcoming show feel like more of the same. What disappoints me most is seeing important and respected people in the vintage community participating and giving it credibility.
I’ve been collecting vintage watches and cars for 30 years. For me, collecting has always been about history, provenance, learning, and preserving these objects. When vintage pieces become props for attention, appreciation in value, and personal branding, something important gets lost.
Maybe I’m old-school, but there’s a big difference between loving the culture and marketing yourself as part of it. The people who truly collect for the love of it can usually see that difference.
