The poetic justice of using your passport to travel freely for fun after it was acquired for you with the intention of trafficking is incredible. ❤

"if i ever become an option, don't choose me." such wise words from nomz, so many of us, even in mainstream society, need to internalize this!

About 36 min in, SO FUNNY. That's totally something I would say. "You're a prophet. Go ask God." 😂😂😂

Nomz I am so so impressed by how you take responsibility for your actions but also understand that you were a victim. That is such a huge step. You are a Rockstar.

Makelle, you are amazing! Stay in school, it gets better! I didn't really get to do college until my mid twenties, it was hard but worth it.

I am so happy to see them giggling and friendly. The doc was so disturbing and my heart broke for all the girls while watching it.

53:40 Makelle! I am an Interior Architect & Designer I worked in a full time job from 18-23 and then figured out that my passion was architecture and design. You may like Interior Design/interior architecture better.

I was 23 when I finally started college at a trade school/technical college and just graduated around 6 years ago. Now, I am in my dream job doing Interior Architecture at a prominent university in my state.

What kind of insecure man needs to pit girls against each other!?

I just can't with these people who come into these spaces trying to monitor how a victim of abuse is "supposed to" deal with their own trauma!
If you're a victim and you need to cry, cry. If you need to laugh, laugh. If you need to scream, or talk, or hit something, or take a bath, or sleep, or ... whatever you need to do, do it! It's YOUR journey, and as long as you don't hurt yourself or others in the process, you go do it!
Everyone processes life in their own way, and if you can't deal with how someone else is handling THEIR trauma that you're not even part of, then how about you go ask yourself some really important questions about yourself rather than place your own issues upon someone else!
M'kay?
Please, and Thank You!

Much love to Nomz and Makelle, you are two very strong, very impressive, very cool women! And don't let anyone make you think otherwise!
❤

I think a documentary from the "wives" perspective would be so good to see, because they deserve to be heard and we can learn more about how these damaging situations occur.

I didn't grow up FLDS or polygamist but rather Fundamentalist Christian/Pentecostal, but after watching the documentary and Nomz's story on your channel, so much of Samuel Bateman sounds so similar to my abuser. The narcissism, delusions of grandeur, how he groomed, manipulated, and abused, and how religion was used against me (and my mother) as a tool of fear and control. Even after we got away life was so hard for so long because of what we went through. I'm doing so much better now but it hasn't been easy. Thank you Nomz and Makelle for sharing your stories and I wish you the best on your healing journey.

Makelle and Nomz are two great women. I am so glad that you are experiencing all that life has to offer. Thanks Shelise for bringing these awesome ladies together. ❤

@clw87 1 month ago

I love this interview so much because, even after all of “that”, you ladies are ride or die besties.

@clw87 1 month ago

1:30:48 THIS. Yes, this. I love this last point because if you’re talking to people who have been traumatized by religion, it should be obvious that now is not the correct time to tell them about your religion. Read the room my friends, read the room.

As a musical theatre actor, NOMZ SHOULD JOIN US!!! It's a wonderful community, super active and fun craft and you can do it casually or go pro depending on how much training you want to do!

Such great, brave young women! What scared me after watching the documentary, is that it seemed to me that if Sam had just kept his dirty fingers off the underage girls, he would probably been allowed to "marry" 18-year-olds and live "happily" for the rest of his life in his "harem" abusing and brainwashing vulnerable young women who were brought up to obey men, and bringing up children in his toxic chaos. I am happy he was caught for harming these very young girls, but I think even 18-year olds and women in general should have more protection from cult abuse.

Those two women are such strong spitfires, I love it. Anyone who wanted to keep them apart must have had to work like hell. Such beautiful energy ❤

I went to college later in life, and I was bored at first...I recommend sticking with it: it gets more interesting as it goes on.

This was great. Raised in one cult, then married into another cult, lots to process when entering into the “normal “ society. So happy to see both girls growing and blossoming into adulthood. I send grandma hugs, hopes for confidence, wishes for peace in their souls and the ability trust again. ❤

You're all so very young! You can explore EVERYTHING you've missed out on.

I'm 49 next month and only in the last couple of years have I woken up from my culty experience since childhood.

I'm embracing the fun of exploring the world, people, and experiences.

Go for it!

@mimimaitri1 1 month ago

52:07 Yeah, people who say you didn’t miss out, are remembering their own negative experiences. As teens, we still tend to be focused on ourselves and our feelings, so the challenges stick out more in our minds. People take so many of freedoms and opportunities for granted, they don’t understand how much they had that you didn’t.

It’s been a privilege to hear both of you tell your stories, and watch you continue to explore and grow into such amazing women.
