Groucho is one of a kind. It's late November 2025 and there's been no one that's come along that comes close to having his spontaneous wit and humor. What a treasure to have him still with us on film.

Johnny Weismuller was the original and best Tarzan such a humble guy as well.

Groucho handled this intellectual with no trouble. Way to go, Groucho. ❤❤❤😂

When I was ten years old in 1962 I shook Johnny Weissmuller’s hand outside the dance pavilion on Bob-Lo Island.

Anyone that thinks groucho wasn't or was abrasive should compare todays humor.  No comparison. He was smart witty and one of a knind....

Enjoy watching groucho on u tube. Smart guy was groucho indeed!

Richard Armour was great. His poem to Groucho was something else.

This show aired on October 9, 1958

George Fenneman was among the "scientists" in the original "The Thing" 1951.

Johnny Weissmuller, Willliam Tilden, Charles Atlas, Yury Gagarin, Rod Laver, and Bobby Fischer were some the heroes of my beloved father.

"You're a big one, Rita...." LOL.

Johnny W. was a good sport.

He was one of a kind for sure. He was sharp witted and sarcastic with his comedy. Another tv legend patterned himself after his witt. Hawkeye from MASH.

In case anyone is scoffing at the size of the prizes given out on the show, keep in mind that adjusted for inflation, the $100 bonus prize for saying the secret word in 1958 dollars equals $1,121.53 in 2025 dollars.  That also means the $1000 prize for winning the first contest round would be worth $11,215.30 today.  And if any of the contestant teams opted to spin the wheel to try for the grand prize of $10,000 if the number they picked came up, add one more zero to convert it into 2025 dollars.  So the top prize on the show in 2025 dollars would be $112,153.  A good-sized grand prize if you ask me.

I have always loved Richard Armour's works. His book on Shakespeare was fantastic!

Excellent episode and clean print!!!!!

That first guy the professor looks a dead ringer for Alister Sims!

I NEVER realized how many swimming records he got gold medals for and the crazy number of swimming records he set and broke !!!! WOW !! No wonder he was the great Tarzan !!!!! Unbelievable !!!

“Are you married, Dick?”
“Well, I have a wife.”
A witty professor!
