Watching Arthur crash out after realising that these were the same map on stream was hilarious. Great video

3d game artist here- assets in these lower budget/free indie games are usually taken from 3d sites with free asset packs. 3D modeling, texturing, (anything related to 3d) can be a bitch and a half to learn, especially as a beginner, so that's how these indie games share a lot of the same assets - they skip the step of handmaking these assets and instead get them from free pack, which is understandable

Edit: lol nvr mind I spoke too soon, you got to the same point in the video

I think the origin of a lot of these "gas station horror" games stems from the old creepypasta "Tales From The Gas Station" which is still a horror story but more comedy than anything. It began the trend but the trend only got bigger and badder with Analog Horror and the general consensus that gas stations at night are just generally creepy.

26:05 apparently that image of Joe B is the famous streamer Joe Bartolozi, he streams a lot of horror games and he is memeable

The real gas station horror is the bathroom round back , truly an Eldrich experience

I didn't recognize Decker from the side before you showed Decker and then it was a jumpscare because that guy is scary, one of the few "humans are the real monsters" trope implementations that actually worked

I used to work in a gas station. It's kind of uncanny late at night and that's all I'll say.

I also believe that the extraction shooter and Battle Royale genres are propped up entirely by streamers

I remember when I was younger, there were more 24h gas stations, and working alone overnight was one of the possibly scarier things I could think of back then...but now nothing seems to stay open too late anymore.
