I did miss you :o

Yay! Arthur Content!

TIL Mr. Bones 40k has a second channel. I was like "Hey, this voice sounds familiar" 😂

Hell yeah! Been wondering what the next topic would be here on this channel and hoo boy you got one hell of one on the docket today!

I know from that update on your other channel you may not actually be back from your break and this could well be an automated upload, but I hope everything is at least getting better somewhat! Thank you for the awesome videos, dude!

I am a professional silent hill fan i watch youtube shorts about the lore and sometimes look at a jpeg of silent hill 2's boxart

17:34 gotta love being American

Silent hill 2 video essay?

Oh see now this is what I'm talking about. 👏👏👏

I played this waay back in the day when it was new.  That shit with the ring used to hold the chain against the door was and went on to be completely unknown to me at the time and for the next several years after.  I just played through the game once like an asshole, killed Cybil, realized I probably missed something, and would be surprised when many moons in the future I discovered this load of bullshit.  LOVE these games but that little detail locking out the good ending was a bit much to expect from the average dipshit gamer.

Great video!

ive """""""""legally"""""""""" had this game for a while now but ive yet to really sink my teeth into it because of life things and incompetence at being incompetent. so its nice to have a man splain the game for me instead of actually experiencing it for myself. joking aside ive been meaning to play some survival horror games since i went and saw the resident evil movie which was kino, so im gonna play it soon. nice vibeo. harry fun. also that drawing at 39:36 was drawn by me.

scalding hot takes only at this channel

30:20 most nice grindr hookup

0h he lives

Nobody tell him there's a PC fan port. (I wrote this 4 minutes into the video so if it brought up later I'm sorry)
Recently replayed 1-3 and SH1 still spooks me.

The guy on the sketchbook kinda looks like you >_>

TL;DR; "I don't like that cult stuff" doesn't mean you only like games in the series where The Cult(tm) doesn't seem to show up. Just means you dislike that one aspect of the series as a whole, and you think the series is better when it doesn't bother with it/think the games that do involve it (maybe excluding 3 and 1) would've been even better without that overarching narrative, or at least less focus on it.

1:09:15 Hi, I am one of those people who say that, and I have been playing SH since the first one launched in the PlayStation 1. It doesn't include just 2 and downpour. It is in fact most of the games, because when we say that, it doesn't mean you don't like any SH game that has ANY involvement with the cult stuff (and let's be clear, 1's is retroactive - before 3 and some later out of game material/dev commentary, The Cult(tm) wasn't really a thing, SH1s Daria and Co's gang were just part of the setting of that one game, then later games/materials build on it to build an overarching lore, it feels different in later games). All we are really saying that is one aspect of the franchise (and so of the games) that we don't like. That is it.

Most SH games, well, the better ones, mostly focus on their own story and themes. Even 3, which really creates this whole cult thing, it didn't really focus on the cult, it focused on Cherryl/Heather's growing up story, her self identity, her relationship with her dad and past incarnation, with the cult only even being prominent on it because she was important to it. The story doesn't bend around the cult stuff, it is the other way around, the cult stuff by far and large mostly bends around Cheryl/Heather. Homecoming, on the other hand, it is like they built a "The Cult(tm)" mythology first, and then reverse engineered a "plot" around it, and it sucked balls. I personally dislike the overarching cult backstory so much, I didn't initially like 3 because of it.

I was very happy with SH being an anthology series which the connection between  games is the psychological horror, aesthetics, game play and meta concepts like the town, a other world, the world of fog, etc. Sort of a horror final fantasy. Which is how it felt when SH 2 came after 1. Then came 3, and it did have an actually really good story and game, but it also cemented the "it is all a shared universe with a metanarrative actually" aspect to it, and that is the singular part I don't like of it. Just as I feel 4/The Room would have been better without trying to work with an overarching background narrative, imo it would have been stronger just being its own thing that just has these meta connections to the other games in the series. Homecoming, it does have a decent high concept, but it got dragged down to hell emphasizing The Cult(tm) so much. And you see it affect real people too. When Silent Hll f was announced, what was the talk? Were people worried about the quality of the narrative itself, if it would have interesting game play or story and characters? No, they're bitching and moaning about it not taking place in Silent Hill, Maine, USA, and "how does it tie to the fucking The Cult (tm)?", as if that magically automatically make it good or bad by itself. F off with that shit, I say.

It is a good day, I got invited to a third round interview, I was able to get some of my favorite snacks on my way home, and the youtuber who's quickly becoming one of my favorite channels uploaded.
