Was bitten by a King Cobra a couple of months ago... I'm 69, and I remember thinking ' ... so this is how I go huh?'... Nearest anti-venom was around 25 minutes away... too far. After around 10 minutes I realised that my heart wasn't racing... breathing was ok... Yup... it was a lucky day... that wonderful snake only gave me a warning bite... an empty bite, no venom. Now THAT is 'good luck'... Still freaks me out thinking about it 🫣

2:18 Just to clarify, the vinegar is only to get the tentacles to detach from the victim. Will do little for the pain, which is unbelievably searing. They also scar victims quite badly. Stockings, like women wear, will prevent you from being stung. But, in aussie waters where these jellyfish are, there are also crocs and sharks, so yeah, you rarely see people swimming, especially during stinger season. Yes, we call the season where deadly jellyfish are out “stinger” season…..

I've been stung by the gimpy gimpy plant in Queensland Australia and can attest to the level of pain it inflicts. We got told by a local that walked past us as I was screaming from pain that pouring Coca-Cola over it repeatedly will deactivate the needles and preven the long term pain from setting in... took a few days for the swelling to subside but i only had the searing pain for a couple days... I was extremely lucky

Fun drinking game for this episode - take a shot every time Simon says 'Australia' XD

"Nothing will attack an elephant becasue of it's size"....Honey Badger: "Hold My beer"

My only experience with any of these was a conversation with a co-worker from Africa where he casually dropped that his sister had been killed by a black mamba.

Another important fact about blue ringed octopuses - they don't continually look blue-ringed!  They can look like a cute small dull-coloured octopus.  Then show blue rings when disturbed probably as warning to predators.

So don't pick up small cute dull-coloured octopuses, either, in case it's a blue-ringed species!

9:30 I knew someone who got bit on the foot by a Brown Recluse and didn’t realize it until a day or two later when her foot literally started rotting. Even after getting it treated, it still took multiple surgeries and months of recovery to get back to normal. To this day the open wound was one of the gnarliest things I’ve ever seen, and it’s made my already crippling fear of spiders even worse

Who is more twisted? Me with my dubious browsing history, or all of those companies watching me watching it?

I work in Healthcare and had a patient when working in the ICU  that was slowly dying because she had a cut on her leg and her seemingly healthy dog licked her wound and a rare bacteria had gotten into her wound via the dogs saliva.  Her limbs were ALL becoming necrotic from the tips of her extremities to the center of her body. She was in constant pain. She couldn't move. Her skin was seeping pus. She couldn't even talk properly. She begged us to kill her but to make sure that her dog lived..wasn't his fault. This was the most jarring thing I've ever seen in my life. She passed away within a week.

Watching my housecat groom himself while Simon talks about lions.😊😊😊

I had a kid hospitalized from belladonna recently. Apparently a mom was told by her kids functional medicine Dr that it can help fevers. So the kid was septic from an infection and was being poisoned.

Camera man decided that those cactuses are more important than Simon

My daughter is studying toxic plants in high school and plans to study them in college. For now, she grows and manages very carefully two bleeding heart species ( one native to our area and the other raised in pots in a greenhouse), Foxglove, and moonflower.

My father was bit in the thigh by a brown recluse. He was a big guy and a doctor so he knew what was up. He said it was insanely painful. His entire thigh had turned dark and almost looked dead.

When I lived in Oklahoma I was bit by a brown recluse. It was by far the most painful experience of my life. I put on a robe after getting out of the shower and it bit me. I tried to tough it out but went to the doctor after about 24 hours. I was told at first by the initial doctor that it’s probably not a spider bite because he had only seen a few actual bites from spiders. The second he saw it, he said yep that’s a recluse bite and had all the interns at the hospital come in and look at the bite😅 to show them what they actually look like.

My dad got bit by a brown recluse years ago. His arm kept getting worse and worse, and he has to go to the hospital. He ended up getting it drained more than once, and still has a scar to this day.

Fun fact about the Black Mamba! I live near a local population of them (South Africa) and they very much resemble the harmless mole snake. As soon as you see that distinctive grey brown colour you hightail it out of there - - even if there's a chance it's a mole snake. From a quick glance of it you usually can't tell, as it's difficult to gauge size from a glimpse between foliage or whatever else. Mambas are much larger than mole snakes but you aren't gonna take the risk.
