What is really happening in the story of Abraham and Isaac?

In this teaching, Tim Mackie explores one of the most challenging and significant stories in the book of Genesis: the binding and sacrifice of Isaac in Genesis 22.

Rather than simply viewing this passage as a difficult story about Abraham's faith, Tim Mackie examines the biblical story within the larger narrative of Scripture—exploring God's promises to Abraham, the meaning of sacrifice, the testing of Abraham, and the surprising way this story points forward within the biblical story.

This teaching invites us to slow down and look carefully at the text, its literary details, and its place in the larger story of God's relationship with humanity.
