A veteran moves into a remote Montana cabin with his loyal German Shepherd, Shadow—and the neighbors immediately notice something strange. There is no stove, no chimney, and no visible way to survive the brutal winter ahead.
Ethan Cole knows exactly what people are saying. But the unusual heating system hidden within his cabin walls comes from hard-earned survival knowledge he never expected to use again.
When temperatures plunge to 40 below and failing chimneys leave the Bitterroot Valley struggling through a dangerous storm, Ethan and Shadow must decide whether to help the very people who once doubted them.
A fictional veteran and dog story about survival, loyalty, second chances, and the kind of knowledge that becomes more valuable when it is shared.
