Hope you guys liked my kitchen upgrade! I did the entire basement but I'll save that for another video!

I don’t understand why anyone would want a beautiful old home “modernized”.  Yuck.  I love my 1860’s home and try to preserve it.

Almost all of your "Before" pictures are superior. There's nothing LESS "warm and inviting" than cold white woodwork and black hardware.

Watch wood kitchen cabinets come back in style. I can't wait to see all the videos saying, "what were they thinking!"

A Victorian home is not dated

Thought I was going to be sick when I saw the 'after'.

I refuse to take advice from anyone who thinks it’s okay to PAINT beautiful milled woodwork….just because you can paint, doesn’t mean you should.

People nowadays are preferring unpainted wood and brick. As a millennial I find painted brick heartbreaking and gen Z feels even more strongly about unadulterated natural materials. Better light fixtures is a huge improvement though

I hate people that say they would love a victorian home or colonial and wined up painting the beautiful hardwood details of these homes. Go buy a modern home and leave historical homes to the people that actually appreciate them!

0:06 Sorry, but I much prefer the "outdated" look. Feels warm and cozy. The second is cold and blech. And what a crime to paint that gorgeous wood.

Sir, please don’t miss lead people. Real wood should NOT be covered with paint. And brick, let the new owner paint the fireplace, not the seller. We are trying to save time + money.

I purchased an older house. I replaced the roof, only few people noticed. I changed light switches to rocker switches, electric outlets and all covers are screwless flat white covers. I changed door handles to square mounted lever handles in matt black. The linen closet and bedroom closets have square mounted round handles. I changed the kitchen cabinet and kitchen drawer pulls to satin stainless steel. Everyone notices I have updated the house.

I did get an attractive ceiling light fan that allows changing warm or cool color and brightness for the livingroom. I changed bulbs that allow that change in the other rooms. I like 4000 K or 2750 K.

I still have work to do but the small changes are so much more pleasant to live in this small house.

Oh, please, please, please do not advise people to paint woodwork if they don’t know what they are doing. We bought a fixer upper where the homeowner had put latex paint over the original oil based paint on all of the woodwork without proper prep.  It lasted long enough for the sale, but it began to peel in months, and the fix was unbelievably expensive.

Buy a house that fits your vision. Don’t ruin a great house.

Grey? Millenial grey?
While I enjoy most of your tipps, your colours are as modern as a PS2

The very first screenshot - “before” is way better than “after”. Stopped watching after that.

Holy crap!  Watching the destruction of that Victorian entrance woodwork is criminal. Don’t over-stain it , especially not with flipping charcoal black!🫠 With historic elements like that, if you can’t live with it untouched, don’t buy the house.

The opening picture of the before and after with the staircase, the before was much more desirable.

I live in an outdated house. First, we painted ceilings, doors, trim. Cleaned good crystal light fixtures, replaced not good ones. Removed wallpaper, fixed walls and painted them. Changed window treatments, new curtain rods. Painted kitchen cabinets and changed hardware. The most expensive part was new roof, new windows, new water heater. My house looks way better.

My grandparents house in Seattle had pink tile and pink fixtures.
