The crazy thing is most of these places can hit 100 degrees F in the summer.

The funny thing is all those places get hotter than the uk every year not just during a heat wave

Here in the US we have all weather tires as well.

Of course it's real, just like yellow school busses and everything else in the movies.

Lake effect snow is when you live close to one of the Great lakes... The wind blows across the lake onto the land since the water is a higher temperature that carries the humidity in the air when the humidity comes on land that instantly freezes and turns to snow. You don't need moisture or rain in the higher atmosphere to fall down and freeze into snow just wind to blow across the lake. ❤ I heard about your recent heatwave. It was around 30° Celsius. It's about that temperature at midnight here and has been for well over the last hundred days. It's about a 100 to 105 Fahrenheit during the day

@ 2:15 The mountain village that resembles AI is Mountain Thunder Lodge in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Hey Guys,  Fun fact,  -40F is the same as -40C.

You have to remember that these are Average " AIR TEMPERATURES", the Wind Chill is easily 20 Degrees lower.

I lived all my life in the northeast and it can get in the negatives here, but 40 mph winds💨 🥶in the plains of Iowa/Wisconsin that I've been too is BRUTAL.

This is also why Trucks/SUVs are so popular in the USA. 75+% of the people that live in these locations drive trucjs/suvs. Even an awd Audi/BMW car doesn't hace the ground clearance to constantly deal with over 1+ft/30+cm of snow on the ground for 6mo per year.

Those are the temperatures, the wind-chill factor is what makes you dream of being in Death Valley

Those are ambient air temperatures. Throw in a 20 - 30 mph wind and many of those averages feel a whole heck of a lot colder.

The lake is so big it makes it's own weather so winter time brings snow ❄️

Some of the reason we need large refrigerators and larger size products . Not easy to travel to grocery stores with so much snow

I like the four seasons.  I live in Minnesota.  Snow is fun to drive in.  Ice is a different matter.

That is why you stock your pantry with food and keep your fireplace or little firestove going.  Firewood.

I'm a human hibernator. I keep my house warm but my bedroom is ice cold with an
open window when I sleep with 20 pounds of quilts and comforters. It's heaven.

You did that right.  -40 degrees is a crossover point for Celcius and Fahrenheit.  -40F and -40C are the same.

You guys are hilarious!!! I grew up in the Fairbanks area, I went to school in a small town just south of Fairbanks called North Pole. I remember we are always happy when it warmed up to -20F so we could go outside and play lol

The cold temps are easy it's the wind and the wind chill effect that gets you
In 1986 I lived by the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan
It was 15 below zero with 60 MPH winds which made the wind chill effect 80 below zero

I live in a condo in Minneapolis, MN and we have a heated driveway, it does a great job of melting the snow!

I visited my Uncle in Alaska and it got down to - 70
