Those volcano sections on Gradius were always a pain,  only way to pass those sections is to know exactly where to be at the precise moments,  i never knew anybody who could beat this game back in the day.

Great choice Austin! My favorite game on most play choice ten's.

Don't feel too bad about failing this one, this is one tough game. I was quite frustrated in the process of trying to beat this one. Would be interested in getting good at it so that I can complete all 3 loops(after the third loop it stops getting more difficult) I personally have more mixed feelings about this game and enjoyed Life Force more, but I shouldn't be too harsh since it is an early NES title and influential title in the genre.

I also posted this strat before on a previous Gradius video on your channel, but there is a very consistent way to beat those orb things from the moai stage. You basically just get directly beneath or above it while staying close to it and then letting your options annihilate it. Was one of the most difficult parts of the game for me, but that turned it into a complete non-issue for me.

BTW Gradius II looks better in many ways, but the hit detection in that game is questionable to say the least. You actually quit playing the game because of it in a shmup stream.

That’s about as far as I can ever make it without cheating. Shooters for me are a genre that I both really love, and also really suck at. The only ones I’m actually good at are Gradius III on SNES and Galaga.
It’d be cool to see you do Gradius 2 for Famicom. I only recently found out that it exists, since my only exposure to that one was TurboGrafx and arcade. It was kind of a bummer that none of the console ports were included in the recent Gradius collection.

Nice Run Austin!😊 I think this is the very first video you ended up losing the game to. I also die around the same part of the game too. I've beaten the game with save states. Also when you move the ship in-between the broken volcano area you get points for doing so.

I'm surprised you forgot about it because you taught me that in your older lets play lol.

Any chance you'll play Axelay?

Hi austin this is my favorite series of shooters,  I never beat this gane, I finished  gradius 3 on snes I love that  game and I have the gradius  collection on switch, I also have gradius 5. Sad to say I've only finished  3 lol,  do you foresee  palying any genesis  shooters?
