When you first started this channel I thought, “boy, that name sounds familiar”, then I saw the Ray Brown book on the music stand 😂

Man, I love Ray Browns playing so much! I have your transcription book, just love it. One of the things I dig is his note selections. Of all the recordings I have of his playing. He not only brings the things in this lesson, but his note selection is awesome. I never hear anything but perfection. His groove is just as well. Great lesson.

Matt, great lesson but, wow what a great sound and uh, IN TUNE!!!

Ray is the King of the big bass

Great work Matt … your playing and teaching “top shelf”… Love your RB Transcription book!! Thank you for that gift!!!

I love these kinds of videos where idioms from the greats are revealed.  Very useful to take these small bits and run them repeatedly through all keys with the hope that these ideas become part of my vocabulary

Thanks for sharing Ray Brow is the man! great stuff

Thanks much Matt! This was exactly what I was looking for!

loving this channel!

Great lesson as always. Interesting examples. The spinning wheels is so cool - so simple but so effective.

Great lesson! Thank you.

Just found you channel and I love it! Great style and content. I’ve been a fan of Ray’s for over 40 years.

excellent lesson and great teacher! Is really helpfull to have this kind of videos algongside my classes to complement my learning, thank you!

I had no idea you wrote my Ray Brown book until just now!😂 Thanks, these videos and play alongs have been very helpful.

Thank you sir! Keep up the great work!

Awesome video.  I am a Ray-natic too! I was lucky enough to take a lesson with him at UNT in 2002. Just he and I for an hour straight. The way he made my bass sound was unreal.  I still can't get my bass to do that!  And his cologne stayed on my bass for like 2 weeks.  I was such a newb at the time that I really wasn't sure what to ask him. In hindsight I would have asked him about so many more stories.  But what an experience.  Your analysis of Ray's playing is spot on.  You put great labels onto these techniques that he did all the time. So glad I found your channel! Looking forward to watching more.

great video! thanks!

Great lesson!
