Join me in Glacier National Park as I hike Trail of the Cedars and the Avalanche Lake Trail. This 6.1-mile hike takes us through an old-growth inland temperate rainforest, along Avalanche Creek, and out to Avalanche Lake, surrounded by impressive peaks and cascading waterfalls.

This is a busy but scenic hike, and for me, the water is the star of the show. From the clear turquoise water flowing through Avalanche Creek to the calm water reflecting the mountains at Avalanche Lake, there is plenty to see along the way.

• Distance covered: 6.1 miles
• Elevation gain: 780 feet
• Route: Trail of the Cedars loop combined with the Avalanche Lake out-and-back
• Location: Glacier National Park, Montana
