The New Jaguar Type 01 Just Embarrassed the Ferrari Luce

Jaguar's new Type 01 makes 1,015 horsepower and starts at $130,500. Ferrari's first EV, the Luce, makes 1,035 horsepower and costs €550,000 (over $600,000). On paper they're scarily close, so which one is the real supercar?

In this video I put the brand-new Jaguar Type 01 up against the Ferrari Luce, round by round: design, power, torque, speed, range, weight, interior and price. The point of the video is that although the Jaguar isn't the best, I'm arguing it's better than the Luce, which is 500k more expensive, and at least Jaguar tried with their EV, unlike Luce. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE FOR ALL THE LATEST NEWS ON CARS

First, I thought the Type 01 was ugly when I saw it. But looking back at the Luce, I finally guess it may have a chance... I think we'll get used to the Type 01 design but I will never with the Ferrari's. 600000$ for this thing ? People have gone completely nuts !

The Jaguar 01 with over 1,000 HP for just $130K is an absolute steal, especially when you pit it against the $600K Ferrari Luce which offers nearly identical performance. For that price, it's a bargain—heck, even a Ford F-150 Platinum pushes close to that territory these days. While I’d personally hold out for their upcoming SUV version to get that commanding ride height and extra cabin space, Jaguar has absolutely crushed it with this release and I might get one if I have to wait a while for their SUV. They did a phenomenal job, and an SUV version would be an instant buy for me. IMO.

For me everything on the Jaguar from the lights backwards I like. The front needs a redesign as should be far more agressive. It's that part between and beneath the main headlights. I realise they wanted to make it unique but could, and should have done a far better job there. How many artist impressions of the final design have you seen over the last 2 years, and most have it looking much better. Crazy when you consider the exterior design came before everything else. so no excuse. Like the up and coming 2027 BMW 7 series, it needs another go at the front end as now looks much better than the first design

The interior styling looks nice but need to offer all the extras. I never liked Jags as were always an 80% brand on luxury. But if you are going to charge £120k then need to offer as extras, fold out rear tables, rear TV's and additional headliner lighting etc.. Also get rid of that pathetic little front screen above the from centre console that looks so cheap. But if they fixed the issues (which really could be easily done) would buy one.

The Ferrari has no redeeming features. It's got zero sex appeal in every aspect and shouts functionality over style.

I might be a little biased, having always been a big Jaguar fan, plus I'm 🇬🇧 British, although I have always preferred Ferraris to Lamborghinis, but anyway - having wondered what Jaguar's been up to for the past two years, I'm delighted to see this new Type 01, and I agree it absolutely smashes the Luce!

When I saw the red concept car in London, it was pretty breathtaking
Go to Knightsbridge and visit the Jaguar boutique. Jaguar has ended the dealer contracts in the U.K. as they didn’t own them.

The look of the product and the advertising of the product should be aimed at pleasing their existing customers, besides at the same time, attracting new potential customers. They failed miserably!

I’ve always said I’d never buy an electric car unless I was forced to, but I think this may be the car that changes my opinion. I’m guessing in-person, this car is going to demand attention. I’m just hoping they have a full leather interior option (I mean FULL - like Aston or Bentley) because I’m not a fan of these economically-friendly textile fabrics.
