TILL ALL ARE ONE‼️

Gotta love that this is a kids movie, part of the 80s trauma pack. I saw this in theatres back in 1986.

Peter Cullen would be honored knowing their are new viewers to the legacy he made till all are one

Optimus Prime was resurrected in the two-part Season 3 finale of the cartoon titled "The Return of Optimus Prime", which originally aired on February 24 and 25, 1987 (shortly after the 1986 movie). The reason why he came back was because fans and children were deeply upset by his death in The Transformers: The Movie—which Hasbro used to make room for new toy lines—the studio brought him back due to massive public demand and letters.

Ya'll were talking over it when Hot Rod was upgraded and missed his new name, Optimus said "Arise Rodimus Prime". Prime is the title. Definitely check out the live action Transformers movies!

Orion Pax became Optimus Prime.  Hot Rod became Rodimus Prime.  Hasbro was discontinuing production of many of the first year Transformers toys, so the movie killed them off.  When popular demand led Hasbro to start selling Optimus Prime again, they resurrected him.  This was nearly a year later, with Megatron being re-introduced later still.

Kids in the 80s were traumatized after this film lol

This was Orsen Wells last movie. He voiced unicron. Leonard Limoy spock himself voices Galvatron. Ultra Magnus was voiced by the guy who hosted unsolved mysteries.

YOOOOOOOO, Y'ALL DID ITTTT

Some background on this, there was like a Saturday morning cartoon type deal that ran for about 2-ish seasons before this came out. Then another season or so ran after the movie, that culminated in a 3-part episode titled "The Rebirth". Try and guess what that's about lol.
Apparently, this movie actually kinda bombed in the 80s cuz kids were walking out traumatized and leaving in tears lmao.

Orion Pax is the guy who becomes Optimus Prime, in most versions he starts as a librarian. The lore of the Primes kinda varies from series to series over time, but in this we see Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime. So, I'm guessing anyone who's worthy would get their own special incarnation.
Some other fun facts: Peter Cullen also voiced Ironhide, the red one with a Southern accent at the very beginning. And Sam from the live-action movies (Shia Labeouf) is supposed to be based on Spike. Obviously though, they end up as very different characters, their only similarity really being the Witwicky name.

There are 5 live-action ones fronted by Michael Bay; personally, not a huge fan lmao but I'm sure people would like to see them.
Then there are two others called Bumblebee and Rise Of The Beasts that are somewhat connected to each other, I'd personally recommend *those*.

this movie happened between s2 and s3 of G1 so to a lot of ppl they went to a movie and watched all their favorite characters just get cleared, it broke ppl; down. from what ive heard. but this is a classic cuz they didnt hold back and the soundtrack which we can thank rocky 4 for it, unicron head stayed in orbit for the rest of the show

I remember my  best freind telling me that Optimus Prime didn't really die, and that he was only unconscious. That was his way of coping with such a traumatic scene.

13:05 Yes, and there was massive backlash after they killed off OP

The most epic, most traumatic way to replace a toy line with all new toys.
Love it and love the soundtrack. Inspirational 80's pop metal at its finest. Stan Bush (also did music for Sailor Moon) is a legend.

Eerie coincidence, ladies: Optimus Prime's eyes flicker at 26:08, Peter Cullen passed away on 26/08

Have seen most of the transformer franchise but this is the first time watching this one with you guys and what a movie it is. "Whenever you look to the stars think of one of them, as my soul." RIP Peter Cullen, Optimus Prime🕊️ 🐐

Hot Rod is now Rodimus Prime.

The "pont" of the movie was to wipe out the original 1984 Transformers toy line to make room for the new 1986 toyline. However they underestimated the trauma it inflicted on children (they were "robots" not people, so they could be more graphic with killing)....however with kids being taken out theaters in tears Hasbro had a ton of letters coming in (pre-internet remember)....it got so bad they fast-tracked the  "Return Of Optimus Prime" 2 parter as their season 3 finale (and this was after "Dark Awakenings, a n almost horror-themed episode were Prime's body was destroyed)

His name is Galvatron but he has a spirit of Megatron

Love how Team Four Star borrowed the tracks from this for Bardock: Father of Goku Abridged

I saw this in the theater when I was 7 years old. It was traumatic. kids films in the 80s did not hold back on the emotional scarring.
