"Hobie, you're not helping"
"Good"
So fire. The guy is amazing

I love how he was set up to be Mile's rival, but became his biggest champion.

I like how he salutes Mayday Parker for just being a baby. She is the direct result of Peter B choosing to fix his broken life instead of letting it be his life.

His best moments were all of his moments, let that settle with you

“You all make a great team.”
“I don’t believe in teams.”
“I thought you were in a band?”
“I don’t believe in consistency.”

Reasons why Spiderpunk is amazing:
1. Teaches Miles to use his palms not just his finger
2. Gives Miles hints on why he shouldn't join the team, while warning him about Miguel
3. Reminds Miles to use his palms when trying to escape the cage
4. Secretly steals parts and tells Miles to make his own watch as he proceeds to make a watch for Gwen
5. Accomplishes so much with less than 5mins of screen time
6. Teams up with Gwen to help Miles in the end
7. "Just for the record, I quit"

The ONE person in the entire Spider Society that never lied or talked down to Miles.

“There you go” “Hobie you’re not helping” “Good!”…. I love that scene

This movie is a golden example of how to subtly write a character. Your first watch you may see Hobie as just a funny chaotic neutral character who is just there to start crap, and be a token romantic rival for miles.

Then by your 2nd watch you realize some of the things he says doesn't just help miles, but proves to be right immediately after he says it. Till eventually you realize, Hobie of all characters is THE ONLY character (besides Miles' parents) who has Miles' best interests at heart. The only character who isn't lying to him or withholding information from him.
That is how you make a memorable character.

Hobie is the guy who comes off as not giving a damn about anything, but is revealed to be one of the most caring individuals

I like that he plays up the contrarian attitude to obfuscate the fact that he's actually very smart and subtle with how he implements his rebellion. Fleecing bits of tech, putting ideas in Miles's head, giving him advice, egging him on, all to undermine Miguel's authority. He's the reason Miles and the rest of the Spider-Gang rebel against the Spider Society, meaning he's the biggest instigator of the plot after Miles. He's an extremely effective anarchist and I'd love to see him in action in whatever dystopia he hails from.

Him laughing after telling miles to use his energy to break the field is amazing

"Just don't enlist till you know what war you're fighting." - truth.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but all the other spidies change art style based on what universe they're in but Hobie never changes, it really fits with his whole "I don't WANT to fit in" aesthetic

Hobie is great but let us not forget his talented actor Daniel Kaluuya that brought him to life and delivered every line flawlessly and all the overworked artists that just went above and beyond shout out to them too

Hoabie stealing bits of equipment throughout the movie to make his own dimension hopper

everytime hobie talks to miles he never looks down on him, like literally his nose is down, which shows he respects him so far and is looking at him like an equal, but when it comes to HQ he looks down on everything, nose raised, awesome detail

Fun fact: It took them three years to animate Hobie alone.

“Just don’t enlist ‘till you know what war you’re fightin’.” - Hobie Brown
Brilliant quote

3:10-3:17
Miles: How are you even cooler under your mask?
Hobie: I was this cool the whole time
