In this video, I react to one of the most iconic Dutch comedy bits — Herman Finkers – De vrouw 🇳🇱. His delivery, timing, and subtle humor caught me totally off guard. Dutch comedy definitely hits different — and I loved it!

He is probably the best Dutch comedian. Because he is absurd without using foul language or unnecessary deep insults. He is my favorite.

This guy is from the east, dialect go crazy in the Netherlands...! 🤗

He is by far the best in the Netherlands. See his previous shows. Some things will only be understood by the Dutch, but his use of the Dutch words is fantastic.❤

As for the final joke, Erik Hulzebosch is a (former) marathon speed skater, but his brother Gerrit Hulzebosch is not.

Na de pauze, After the break, Herman was very ill and had chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).

Here’s another good joke of his: 'I’m not married; my in-laws couldn’t have children.'

I visited many shows in the nineties, before his break. My favorit comedian.❤

Hé is and Dutch. And so beautiful ‘Twents’ . Out of East Netherland, and that mix gave Hm the humour. Also his timing in silence and his way of looking. The eyes tell so much!

Herman Finkers is known for incorporating Twents, a regional language (Twente, the Dutch region where he was born and raised), into his shows and the like. In Twents, we have the expression " het nestje ligt onder de boom" ('t nust lig onder 'n boom) (the little nest lies under the tree), which means that a relationship is over. Herman Finkers incorporated this saying, in Twents, into the story here. In doing so, he made the distortion that the stork's nest lies under the tree (following the preceding text).

Stork Nus = stork's nest. It's the name of the theater in Hengelo where this was recorded.

He said that in Twents, a lower Saxon dialect.

Eric Hulzenbos is a famous skating champion. Gerrit Hulzenbos is just an unknown name.

He's even funnier when you are a native Dutch speaker, because he plays with language inside an already funny joke. That word play usually gets lost in translation 🙌

Herman Finkers is great. he wants wrote a book with the title "The course dealing with disappointment has once again been cancelled"

@wallyjansen898 2 months ago

He also wrote book with fantastic stories. The story when the whole family went to Lourdes , I laugh out loud every time I read it. But It's true, you have to speak dutch to really appreciate his dry humor.

Funny. I stumbled upon this by chance and I almost forgot, but I am watching this video right now in Herman's old garden (1987-2001) in Almelo. Apart from that, my generation grew up with the humor of Finkers, Visscher, van 't Hek and others. All of them are greats in the field of creativity, intelligence, and performance. Nice that it still gets attention :)"

Herman Finkers was probably my favourite comedian ever. Especially his older stuff (when he still had a mustache, before his break) is absolutely classic.
