When our boys were little, and we said “play old school”, they knew exactly what that meant.

This video is a good reminder that although I was raised fairly old fashioned, it’s been a blessing rather than a hindrance. Kids are not generally harder on their stuff than when I was little, the quality of products from many brands has visibly decreased over the last three decades or so: Be a picky shopper if you want to buy good quality items that will last more than a few months.

I have a small garden- I kept track of what I was able to grow this year. I weighed the produce and kept a list as I brought in our daily harvest. I was able to grow almost 400lbs of produce in a small 30x30 garden. I grew potatoes, lettuce, arugula, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, cantaloupe, summer and winter squash, strawberries, grapes and herbs. I preserved some of it. I pick things we use a lot. Dehydrating herbs, freezing peppers, canning tomatoes in a couple of forms, dill relish, grape jelly etc. I am 64 and still work full time but it was such a boost to our budget.

I love silence! I can sit for hours just watching my horses graze! It fills me with joy and contentment.

I like creating entertainment!! When the grand children are here I need to ensure we create our own fun!!

I know my comment is not completely relevant to the video but I think there has been a wonderful improvement in your looks , Heidi. Your eyes, hair, and skin looks extremely vibrant. Your autumn style is lovely and fashionable . It coordinates with the background of your cozy home. So inviting; please continue what you are doing. God bless you and your family. 🍁

Definitely convicted about having enough. As a society in the US, I feel like we want more, bigger, and better. It’s definitely got me thinking about things differently.

Creating entertainment is a great thing! - Our local library loans out board games and card games and we enjoy checking out different ones to play as a family and we don't have to spend any money!

Hi Heidi. Thanks for this video. I think simplifying is important. My parents taught me to focus on needs before wants. That has helped me to prioritize my time and energy. : )

I agree with you, we need to be hosting more. But 9 out of 10 women I know don't clean their homes. I can't tell you how many times I've been told, "excuse the mess," and it is the same mess that was there 3 monthes ago! My daughters refuse to attend a friend's holiday get- togethers because her house smells like cat pee. The message most women need to hear is if you are embarrassed by your home, clean it. Work a cleaning schedule into your week. It doesn't matter if you work in or outside the home. 😊

Great tips! Largely ( not perfectly at all !)…as a frugal homesteader … I do several of these. The truth is - it brings me great joy doing these things❤.

I have been thinking about the things you brought up and more. Those were things people did before social media. That is why I checked on Amazon for books on digital detox. I found 2 books that are on the way to me. The sad thing is that I fear being alone on it because of people being on devices. In my town there are a few people starting up gatherings. I like seeing that. I am decluttering books. I give them away when I get new books. Idea: check with library if they want them, or donate them to the yard sale in March. I would like to see people care about others. When you look at your home and someone comes over that person will notice less than what you see. I am in chapter 11 in Uncluttered Faith. Waiting for the two new ones. Time to study my Bible.

All of them! The Holy Spirit has laid all these on my heart too but especially the one about being in physical bibles and maybe even having a resource or two, at home to really learn howto study the Word with the Holy Spirit rather then AI.
