Alternate title: "What if my EU4 run was real?"

The modern equivalent of this would be an author of one those "Little Dark Age" edits was gifted an army and decided to recreate their favorite empire.

Those names like Sevastopol, Odessa etc coming from Catherines obsession with ancient Greece is such an interesting fact! Been hearing those names a lot lately

Are you Emperor Joseph II? Cause you drew a line straight to my heart with this video.

Konstantine wasn't actally hated by everyone, he was loved by the common soldier, since he didn't like war and always took out his anger on his officers indtead of the common soldier.

He also was a weird sort of pacifist, as he thought that armies were for looking good and parades and than war disgraced them.
He was more so just a big child, that wanted to play with his Polish toy soldiers and threw tenter tantrums when stuff didn't go his way. Often getting blamed by the Poles for what his family was actually doing.

As a King he would probably be hands off, playing with the Greek Army, leaving the ruling to his big bros in Russia and their advisors.

Catherine LARPed too close to the sun, Girlie knew what she wanted and tried to do it

- Catherina! Are you sure this will work?
- I HAVE NO IDEA!

This was pretty easy to do actually. You just take constantinople, release byzantium as a vassal, then do a reconquest war to retake all the cores.

Two points to note. First of all the Greeks at the time really liked the Russians and most Greeks believed they would be liberated by the Russians one day. This is known as the "blond race" prophecy. Second, the Greeks weren't uneducated, it was only the Greeks from Southern Greece that were. Constantinople still had the Phanariot Greeks, who were so educated that even the Ottomans used them as a ruling class. Also many educated Greeks had fled to Russia or Western Europe. Those would return to Greece even irl, creating a new ruling class.

Two Cody uploads in one day? We’re eating good

26:24 I would like a lot a second part of this video; also I am still waiting for the third part of the Muslim Spain video, I loved that series of videos

Careful Cody! As soon as you mention “Restoring Byzantium”, Videntis will appear. Even now, he just spawned right next to me telling me that Justinian told me to subscribe.

Hey no in all fairness we do sometimes talk about stuff that's still alive

4:00 Correction: Catherine proclaimed such possibilty, wchich forced France and England to reconsider their plans. Because even if Russian fleet wouldn't actually show up nearby American shores, Russiann sea ports would be safe place for volunteer captains (totally not privateers) who could attack English communications elsewhere.

The thing about a third party reestablishing a long fallen state isn't something unusual. This actually happened to Lithuania. The Germans tried reestablishing the Grand Duchy of Lithuania under a German royal who took the name  Mindaugas II.

I’m a simple man, a Byzantium video equals a like and full watch through.

9:19 I love that Karansebes is described as “history’s worst friendly fire incident.” Lol, how is losing up to 10k men considered an incident?
