It’s encouraging that even a carver of your experience changes his mind or corrects things as he goes. I do this all the time.

I love how you break this project down into segments for the body. It really helps me with learning shapes and proportions for my figure carving. I appreciate that you assume the beginner knows very little if anything about carving figures. Thank you for taking the time to put together these beginner projects. I for one truly appreciate it! Gene, you have been an inspiration to me and, along with a couple of other folks, have inspired me to begin, learn and improve my skills carving. I dontbthink that enough people understand how LIFE CHANGING carving can be. Something about the interaction between your head, hands,blade and wood that is deeper in one's psyche than might be realized. Thank you for the knowledge you share.

This is a great beginners tutorial. Very detailed demonstration. Those who complain about the pace haven't taken many art classes. I am going to finally whittle myself something other than splinters. Thank you.

Wonderful video, I remember my dad carved me a star wars style lightsaber to play with in the wood with my friends (the laser part was imaginary!)

I found out wittling from an app on the google store.  After well  googling it for a hit, i found your videos.  I plan on getting into it with your winderful tutorials.
