Internal fans draw air through openings in their surfaces, helping the airflow stay attached and increasing the aerodynamic force they can produce. With suitable wind, that extra thrust reduces the propeller power needed to keep the ship moving.
We also explore her diesel-electric propulsion, where diesel engines generate electricity and an electric motor turns the propeller.

Thank you for videoing it again.
And thank you for the comments trying to explain how the sails work. So basically you need to have wind blowing faster than the propulsion speed by the engine ?
In order for sails to work efficiently then need to be employed on long ocean passages where slight alterations of course to maximise the wind can be used to optimise their economy.
Point to point short voyages around the continent with numerous fixed waypoints do little to draw back the cost of the extra weight and maintenance.
