A beautiful heart of gratitude 🙏

I just had my right foot four days ago. Remove the bunion by my big toe and the smaller bunion below my pinky toe and also corrected the hammer toe on my fourth toe. I was given a nerve block during surgery and it was supposed to last 24 hours however it wore off after 11 hours so that first night when I got home from surgery I was in excruciating pain. I would say on a scale one to 10 I was at 15. It was insanely bad even though I had taken OxyContin. However, by that morning, the pain was minimal and it has remained minimal, and I am not on any narcotics. I’m just taking Advil to try to ease the swelling. If my nerve block had not worn off as quickly and had lasted the 24 hours that it was supposed to I would’ve felt absolute minimal pain in this whole time since my surgery.

I need this surgery done.  I'm 57 and have had it since teenager.  Wish I'd had it done when I was younger.  These bunions grow and now it is not only my foot that hurts, but up my leg.  If only I'd known before.  Wish me luck!  Thank you for sharing your experience here.

I appreciate you making this video

Mark Blackney in Melbourne Australia is a butcher.  He operated on both feet at the same time when I had no pain at all.  Two weeks out of the operation he told me that both big toes had been misaligned.  They now both pointed east and were twisted so that only a small portion of the big toes touched the ground and could be weight bearing.  This means that my weight is on the outer side of my feet and on the heel.  He wanted more money to fix his errors.  The pain continued and he told me that that was "the healing process".  I could not walk because the underside of my feet was like walking on stones - he said that was because I was walking barefoot!  The right big toe is so out of alignment that it is causing a cross over toe - extremely painful, with the first toe.  Blackney knows that he is safe as I do not have the funds to sue him.  Instead of ageing with mobility and stability, I have fallen several times because of the inability to stand without holding on to something or dressing myself without being seated.  Prior to the operation, I was able to exercise and maintain good health, now the ageing process is rapidly increasing with increased risks.

How is your foot now ? Can you make a new video of 1 year post op?

I just has bunion surgery 10 days ago. This pins and needles pain HURT!!

I've had 3 bunion surgeries plus just had big toe fusion and midfoot surgery in my left foot need big toe fusion on my right but waiting it out as long as I can but my feet hurt everyday, i had severe arthitis for 20 years needs the BTF but my doctor told me I was to young so it got worse and worse so finally got the BTF and so happy the pain is gone

Did you have to have any screws inserted?

It is a very painful surgery. Im going on my second week. Get the stitches out Thursday. I cant put any pressure on my foot until stitches are out. What makes it worse its on my right foot so i cant drive.

I love to be out and active during the summer…… i told him id have to think about it… that was about a year ago now and he also told me it will just get worse over time…… Idk what to do!! Im so scared to go through with it… im scared to not be able to run, walk… be active…. 😢

Thank you for your video 🙏🏻 how is your foot feel today? I just got my foot done 6 days ago still sore and can’t weigh bearing yet ?

Hi Madison! I am also getting surgery this month on the 29th. This video was uploaded a year ago. Are you feeling any pain now that’s it has been a year? Do you still feels pins and needles? What helped you recover more faster?

During the first few days when the pain was the worst, did you elevate your foot and ice it often? What would you compare the pain too? Did you combine the narcotics with advil and tylenol? I have my surgery coming up and hearing how bad the pain is is really making me reconsider I'm so nervous.

Were you non weight bearing when you were on crutches?
