This is why Dalton is so good and why this channel is amazing. Put dangerously rusty and compromised vehicles on the road in the cheapest way possible? Done. Convertible sedan conversions? Done. Do a working-man's garage RESTORATION for a car that deserves it? DONE. Beater life is a spectrum.

Too many folks forget that real engineering and real maintenance are the sciences of "Good Enough." You can't overbuild everything, not everything needs to be 100%, your time is valuable and sometimes making progress is more important than perfection. Keep doing what you do, Dalton.

Pps… I served my mechanical apprenticeship with my Father. He kept making me fix a 73 mini clubman.Every nut , bolt, engine and taught me how to primer, prep and spray it. Every spare minute spent on that mini!  ……eventually, it was mint!… I was so proud……. Long story short, it sat in the corner of the workshop.  Kept asking when the bloke was coming for this beautiful car.  He will he said.    Went for my driving test, passed, came back to work,  and Mum n Dad were sat in the office, said well done, and Dad said here! Best go get your car out of here, needs a wash and threw the mini keys at me!   I miss my Dad. Now look after Mum.  And I was adopted…..  Thaught ide share that, cos you bring those memories flooding back. God Bless you, 🙌👍❤️

Every time I watch, I'm always impressed with JD, he's a good kid.

I have used metal from a washing machine that I had in my garage to fix my Maverick. It did a good job.

Dalton, I really like that you are starting to use the welder in your projects.  We civilians are only going to have one or two cars that we fix up and your taking a deeper dive while still maintaining your low-budget ethos is really helpful to watch.

I really needed someone out there to say "If I don't see it, I don't care" when it comes to rust repairs.  For so many years I've been surrounded by perfectionistas who wanted me to do factory-style rust repairs on inner fenders etc. All it did was keep me from doing it, because I "didn't wanna do it wrong."  I realized these people wanted me to restore the car for THEM not ME. Thankfully, now I can live by The Polebarn Garage Creed and make my old car driveable and fun...for ME.  Cheers Dalton!!

Dalton, hi this is Tony, I used to work for a Trans Am shop, they specialized in these Pontiacs and I did all the sanding and prep work so our painter could paint the car, I sir not only agree with but respect the way you think, I was seemingly never able to please our over anel painter , he made a great job a miserable one. He was very anel, so I quit, then restored my 1971 Nova to perfection and put it in a car show where I took best in show and a car he put in did not place, only because he made too many mods. And made the car look unoriginal. I would be proud to work with you on a project but I am unable to get anywhere, but I really miss sanding, hammering, planishing and body filling! Keep up the good work.

Not sure I've ever looked more forward to a PBG episode than this one

I love this channel because most of the time he does it wrong and doesn’t care and tries to forget about it

"That 16th of an inch of metal won't make a difference" reminds me of my carpentry instructor constantly reminding us that we were not building an effing piano, stop being so finicky. Same instructor gave me the most valuable life lesson ever: "Always leave yourself an out."

The Youtube quailty content has went down since everyone is chasing sponsors , money and selling outragiously priced merch ...it takes away the originality of making fun and knowlegable videos to watch. Alot of "Youtubers" now are all corporate and skew any real information they were set on for "years and years" now it all of a sudden changed when money comes into play. I enjoy watching PBG , money or sponsors don't get in the way of just having fun building drivers ! Thanks Dalton for not selling out and keeping the content enjoyable to watch 👍

Out of all of my memberships (Amazon, Netflix, etc) this one is by far my favorite, and it is the cheapest too!  Keep up the great work!

I've had a pretty rough 3 or more months, and cars are my passion. Thanks for being a source of entertainment in one of the more stressful times of my life.

The slow decent into madness over the deck lid really tied the video together lmao another great video!

You can down play it all you want. But, when it comes to throwing together a presentable driver… your the man

Im a body man for 10+ years and what you did is really good for home restro, much better than most shops just doing smaller repairs. Also if anyone reads this, it is worth to spend the extra money to find a clean car than finding a rusty one like this and doing all this work like in the video, trust me. Only makes sense if its a car that you are willing to do for fun and fart around with or if its a rare valuable car. There is many out there and sometimes takes time to find a clean one but it will be worth it.

The quiktrip bag is one of my favorite pre-youtube dalton stories

Best line EVer!

2 things -
1. Yes! I, too, in my youth, wire brushed rust with no protection. I wish I hadn't. Reminder: more things than mouse [bleep] can [bleep] with your lungs [JD needs a Dad].
2. I know you don't have one, but an Acetylene outfit lets you "plate" thin metal with brass - great for windshield channels (hint, hint) - and it heats up [bleep] a treat when you're trying to remove it - like EVERYTHING!

Love this video. Very relatable to things I have done in the past. With cars of the same vintage. When they were 7 years old. In New England - in the 'Bad Old Salt Days' where lasting 5-7 years )(never mind 20) was a MAJOR 'win'.
