That's a Gelgoog 😅

No Zaku, boy
No Zaku

Watching the junior pilots get gunned down is hard to watch. I love Gundam.

I absolutely love Thunderbolt!!!!! It revitalized my interest in the One year war. And it has the best characters on opposing sides. They feel the most Human to me. Cheers

Honestly this 0080 and 08th ms team to me are essential viewing for a UC binge so you can see how all fronts of the war (earth colonies space) affected all sorts of different people

Man I need to watch this it sounds fkn awesome

Thunderbolt is one of my favorite series partly for its darker tone, but mostly for the storytelling that the mech design tells; suits deployed to a debris field are equipped with shield-equipped sub-arms to deflect smaller pieces, and have way more verniers to increase maneuverability. It's good environmental storytelling.

Whenever I see the scene of the - basically child soldiers - geeking out and taking selfies with the FA Gundam I think of that "Wow!! Cool Robot!!" meme about how the aesthetics of Gundam eclipses its anti-war message.

It makes me want to see what the in-universe recruitment propaganda is like for the Federation.

I love the idea of the original RX 78 being a sort of Boogeyman type figure. That 3D netflix gundam also had that vibe.

One thing thats fun about thunderbolt besides it being an AU version of the UC that evolves in a wildly different direction is the devlopement of its two main characters Io slowly becomes more human and realizes that he may infact be a functional psychopath considering how much he loves violence but begins channeling his negative aspects into more postive causes while trying to improve as a person meanwhile Daryl after basicly loseing everything in this opening arc throws himself into Zeon remnate cause after cause desprate for his sacrifies to mean something and excuseing many atrocities in persuit of this slowly turning him into a bigger monster than Io

Jeez Io looks cracked out. One of the most fearsome men you can fight is one with nothing to lose.

That scene where they assembled the Psycho Zaku, when I first laid eyes on it. The first word that came to mind was "haunting".

The manga goes crazier.

THREE YEARS. IVE BEEN WAITING THREE YEARS FOR THIS

I love December Sky. Brilliant embodiment of Gundam's themes of War Is Bad and There Are No Good Guys, Only Survivors. It's such a stark depiction of the the dehumanising meat-grinder of war, how it will rob you of your empathy and reduce you into a machine that is good for slaughter and nothing else.

That montage when Daryl in a surgery got his last limb cut off and  cross cutting to Psycho Zaku putting together, remind me of Star War when Anakin in the surgery putting his iconic Darth Vader suit on and Padme giving birth to Luke and Leia.

Gundam Thunderbolt is easily my favorite Gundam anime, such a brutal, gritty display of the OYW. That said, read the manga, I personally think its even better.

Thunderbolt is amazing. I've fallen in love with the sound track to this OVA and I listen to at least one of the songs every day at work.

Always enjoyed your vids. Hope they continue adapting thunderbolt.
