If you make fun of me for pronouncing stuff wrong I will cry

2:07 Funnily enough, "The Big Fight" on Netflix does have a joke character named Netflix at the end.

How can it be the worst platformer??? The name literally says it's a 'great rescue' and that means it's great! the title can't lie to you

What if they did a Wario Land 4 thing?  First you beat a level with Asterix and there's no time limit, and then you beat it again as Obelix with a brutal time limit, because Obelix keeps falling behind and needs to catch up.  So in the first run of each level you see Obelix at the start getting distracted by a boar or something, you scout out the level as Asterix, and in the second run there's a brutal time limit because Obelix needs to catch up to Asterix who is waiting for him at the end.

6:40 regarding the strict time limit, I feel like maybe the game testers told the devs the game was too easy and their quickest solution to fix that was to add an arbitrary time limit. At least that's just how I think these things happen in these older games. The OG Mario games had time limits but they were very forgiving.

Gonna be honest, it's quite refreshing how even in a series about possible bad games, you're willing to give each of the games a chance and point out the positives rather than putting out a one-sided review with nothing but criticism. That's surprisingly rare on YouTube.

Either way, nice review. It's a real shame this game's time limit is so brutal, since as you said, it could be a decent to good game if it was more generous overall.

About the "violento contexto" You intepreted are actually supose to be just gags, the gullotine are not bloody, they have evil eyes, and the decapitated heads are just doll faces used to mock enemies, You see, the romans are very mean and like to make fun of people who not coward to they, ofteen so the joke is axterix beats them to the sky as level finnish shows.

that title track has that awesome SEGA Genesis twang that we all know and love.

Not so fun fact about this game. The PAL version has MUCH stricter timelimits than even the NTSC version.

While I don't like them, Whoisthisgit made a great video going over every level in that version of the game on hard mode. Some of the most diabolical level design I have seen in the era.

24:25 - You’re supposed to hold right and mash the jump button. Unless it tells you this in the manual, I don’t get how you’re supposed to figure that out.

Almost all the levels having something new and different about them, as well as actually TRYING to tie them all together, is an unexpectedly high level of effort for old platformers like these. The time limit seems like an absolute nightmare, and I probably would have dropped off before I even made it that far if I played the game for real... but man. Any game that has a German level taking place in a land of sausages is a game I can't hate ALL the way through.

1:02 I just adore how 2013-2014 this set up feels.

One quick ROM hack would solve most of this game's problems. Make Easy mode actually an easy time limit, maybe make a "Lunatic" mode for the speedrunners?

The names in Asterix actually inspired some of the Druids' names in Runescape, with Kaqemeex, the guy who teaches Herblore, being the most prominent of these. (And Pikkupstix in RS3, if you can stomach the MTX.)

26:45 “you get knocked up” the joke writes itself

Just found this channel a week or 2 ago but I really enjoy your review style. And your humor is fun

I should also bring up that the PAL version, alongside making all but one of the time limits harsher, is also VERY much an obvious beta. Fireballs especially, don't even work half the time unless you use them absolutely perfect, so if you already hate throwing them....good luck. The US version in contrast is MUCH more polished...but almost nobody at the time knew or cared about Asterix here. So I think another reason you got so many requests, is specifically to address the more popular PAL version, because THAT one is straight up a broken game.

The reason people don't like the music is because it doesn't really fit Asterix, i recommend you  to listen the cartoons soundtrack or watch the review by "Joueur du Grenier" about the game, you will understand how truly different they are ^^ Great video btw

It helps when you break down the pun - the chieftain is Vitalstatistix - Vital Statistics.

24:55 on Game Gear you press 1 and 2 in rapid succession

WhoIsThisGit did a great video on this game, and the thing that absolutely kills it is the sheer absurdity of that timer.

But just as well: this game reeks of having been rushed for some reason. The quality difference between graphics from level to level, the unpolished final stretch, the fact the last 3 worlds are shorter...

I have no idea why there was such a rush to get this game out the door? Was there some kind of big tie in event? Did they run out of production money? The story behind this is bound to be more interesting than the game itself sadly.
