👇 Which breed would YOU own, and which one would you never own? Let me know in the comments!

Mixing the irish and the scottish is probably the most offensive things garret's ever done 😂

I was at the vets to get shots for my pup a couple years ago.  A young lady walked in with a great dane.  She was early 20s and coudn't have weighed 90 pounds and she was wearing slick bottom cowboy boots.  Her dog went after another dog in the waiting room simply dragging her across the floor like she wasn't even there.  My point is if you can't physically control your dog if the need arises, you don't need to have that dog.

Braveheart was Scotland, Garrett!

Girl with the dogs makes a couple of cameo appearances.

I love my current Irish Wolfhound that is 8 years old and all the ones I have had in the past. They are a very unusual breed in that they are so gentle with people and yet can have a massive prey drive with other animals. My first Irish Wolfhound was such a gentle dog with all people and yet killed a Pitbull by ripping its stomach and intestines out and completely dominated both of my friends Rottweilers when playing with them. I never witnessed the Rottweilers ever getting a takedown on my Irish Wolfhound, but I saw my Wolfhound who was much larger get 100's of takedowns of the Rottweilers that ranged between 120-150 pounds. The fastest Irish Wolfhound topped 40 mph. The short life is the hardest thing to deal with, but the parents of my current IW lived longer than most as the dad is still alive at age 11 and the mom lived until age 10. I lost my first IW to cancer at just 4 years and 2 weeks. My second IW lived to 10 years and 2 weeks and my third IW lived to 7 years and 10 months.

when i was in 8th grade i was at my friend's house when they brought home a great dane puppy, i was still scared of dogs at that point but he was not too big yet. he was all black and so sweet. loved that dog, even as he got huge. he died maybe a year or 2 after high school, so about 6-7 years. it was quite sad, but that dog is also the reason i started to like dogs.

Love the video. Your story telling skills don’t need AI 😊

I have a dane.  He is very loving.  He lives with my Rottweiler, cane corso mix, french mastiff mix.  Yes we all exist in harmony.  No fighting, no issues.  Besides my dane, all my other dogs are rescues.  I have an amazing pack😊

I've had 4 Central Asian shepherds. You are completely wrong about them eating their owners. They are flock guardians and if you don't have a flock they treat you as one. Meaning they will protect you and your family with their life. But, they are not a city dog. I live on 10 acres in the mountains and they keep all of the bears and mountain lions away. They're great! On top of that, for a large dog the average lifespan is 12-15 years. My female is 14 right now and still chasing bears.

Many working breeds are not the best “house pets”

I'll take Fang! "Fine, just so you know, he's a bloody coward". 🤣

I love my Neopolitan Mastiff and his wrinkle cleaning isn't a big chore. Also as long as you keep them on the lean size they can move just like any other breed

I had the pleasure of working with 5 or 6 Central Asian Shepherds over a few years at a rescue not too far from Belfast.
Out of all the breeds I worked with, from Chihuahuas to Collies to Mastiffs, the Central Asians surprised me the most. Incredible dogs.

I didn’t expect them to be so affectionate, so gently playful. I know that’s not the breed as a whole, just my experience with the ones I spent time with.

They were very well socialised but they’re a territorial dog, and need space to roam or a large perimeter to patrol, so even though I never heard of any of the ones I knew displaying unexpected or dangerous behaviour, you can’t take on that level of responsibility without the right environment and experience. These dogs aren’t for city or suburban life.

Dogs are roughly 3x stronger than humans pound for pound in terms of pulling. A 25kg dog, you can pull back against. An 80kg dog wants to get somewhere, you’re not stopping it.

Grew up on a farm in Canada with 3 Irish Wolfhound/Greyhound crosses (imagine a wolfhound with greyhound fur).
We had coyote problems on the farm to start, then coyote pieces on the farm after 😅
They were very chill dogs, liked to follow us everywhere and relax next to us.  When herding cattle, they would also help us there as well.
Very smart, very big, very cool dogs!

I love Newfies 😊  Huge dog, chill and loves to play on the beach.

Used to have a pair of Irish Wolfhounds, great affectionate dogs. We had a fair bit of land and they would patrol it rigorously. They just don't live very long, one died at 6 and the other at 8, which apparently is quite old for the breed. Just had adopted greyhounds and labs since. Have a friend who breeds Dogue De Bourdeux's, he had a pup that won at Crufts, pretty intimidating dogs. Was thinking about a Boerboel - absolute beasts

While I wouldn't adopt a full blood Neopolitan Mastiff...we did have a 50-50 Labrador-Neo Mastiff by DNA test. She was an absolutely incredible dog. She was a big girl but one of the most calm, gentle dogs we've ever had. But she was stubborn when the leash came out. Loved having her picture taken. You could pose her in any position and she would freeze until the camera went away.

I own a Great Dane and I love him.  He is well-controlled and I have trained him on a prong collar.  He goes into his kennel whenever I ask him to and even when I don't ask him to.

The sad thing is people want larger dogs while living on smaller property lots. It doesn't work well, Siberian Husky needs to be on that list. Unless you are a die hard runner or a musher, you don't need one. They are the #1 runners. I cannot tell you how many are in the lost and found rescue pages. And a mile or two is not enough.
