Old Parliament House has some  lead light stain glassed windows with Psalm 127 verse 2-2 on them.
They are now under the Grand Entrance Stairwell.
Would be great if you could bring that story to us.✅✅✅✅

That was really interesting.  We took the kids around there a couple of years ago.  Hubby had studied at QUT when the Con was there in the early 90's.  Lots of stories to share with them as we wandered.  I think I want to go back and explore without them though.  I can take my time differently.

I remember my Mum always telling me about there being monkeys at the City Gardens where people would go to feed them peanuts.

The story of James Morrill is taught to all school kids who grow up in Bowen North QLD as I did Rob, there used to be a section within the Bowen Museum dedicated to him.
I had no idea this statue in the gardens was about him.
Would love to see you venture to other Queensland towns to do some story’s about the their history. Bowen being one of them, it has an amazing history. And you can have a great holiday while you’re doing it at the beaches…

Despite being undercover in the rainforest section, the macadamia still has nuts, but small ones.  It was as Rob said, the origin tree for the industry. Walter Hill had originally been told the nuts were poisonous; he supplied the visiting traders from Hawaii who had intended to use the trees as windbreaks on sugar plantations.  They soon discovered the taste and started the 'Hawaiin Nut' market, a name still in use in parts of the world. But before that, Walter was surprised to find his workers eating them and probably joined in. (SOURCE: various Gardens volunteer guides).
An excellent presentation, Rob. That wass so much information in a mere 30 minutes. There's plenty enough more for a sequel. Meanwhile, people, take the free guided tours.

Also, I'm not sure if you're interested, my family history in Qld is very old. My great, great, great, great grandfather travelled to Aus on the first fleet and had the first homestead in Mt Warren, became well established in Marburg and Fernberg and started the Lutheran churches, became funeral directors, vintners etc. We have a historian in the family that put a book together I can pass on to you. I'm only telling you this because you did one of your episodes on Marburg, and I thought you might find it interesting. Anyway, keep doing what you do so well, looking forward to seeing what you do next. Cheers 🍻

I love your home and your life. It's every girls dream a cute house and a loving husband and family. You inspire me with your cooking and writing. Decluttering is hard for me because I love all my stuff but I guess it needs to be done to keep things under control. I would keep the vintage dishes..patio makeovers are my favourite things. There's nothing better than sitting on the porch on a sunny day reading and journalling or just sitting contemplating and enjoying the birds and trees etc. mess is natural and life would be so boring without mess. Hi Rob.  Great video about a great area of our wonderful city.!!  This is your first video that I've seen and I'll be subscribing.  I work at QUT, sometimes in P block.  The displays there change regularly, so the history slides may not be available forever.  One piece of (potential) trivia that I know about the Gardens is that just to the right of the stairs up to Parliament House from the Gardens is a tunnel that supposedly goes under George St and into Parliament House.  When they were doing some work in the that garden several years ago, I walked past and saw the top part of an entrance which appeared to go into the wall and appeared to be a tunnel.  I cannot find any info about it, so it could be just a shallow storage bay.  The brickwork I saw was at about ground level, but it looks like the garden there is higher now then it was several years ago.
