Sometimes you visit a place without expecting much, and suddenly you find yourself thinking… “I could actually live here.”

That’s exactly what happened to me during this trek near Haripur Dhar in Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh.

I started my journey from near the famous Bhangayani Temple, Haripur Dhar. I drove my vehicle some distance along the route and parked it at a spot from where I had to continue the journey on foot.

I got out of the car, started getting ready for the trek, and then looked around.

And honestly, I was surprised.

The place in front of me looked almost exactly like the kind of place I have imagined many times while thinking about my dream home in the mountains.

A small beautiful house made of wood, mud and stones from the surrounding area, a simple fabric shed, a large piece of land where you could grow your own crops, a private road, forest nearby and mountains all around.

It was so close to the picture I have in my mind whenever I imagine living somewhere peaceful in the mountains.

After leaving my vehicle, I started walking towards my destination. The trek has stairs made from local slate stones, and the entire route is surrounded by beautiful deodar trees.

As I kept going higher, the temperature started dropping and the surroundings became quieter and more peaceful.

I also really liked one thing about this trekking route. The people who developed the path have placed benches at regular intervals of around 150–200 metres, which is very helpful, especially when you want to take a break and enjoy the surroundings.

After the climb, I finally reached the place locally known as Killa (Fort).

The place has an interesting connection with the history of Sirmaur. It is said that the King of Sirmaur had a fort built here in the past.

Today, however, you will find a large water-supply tank, a pump house and a huge statue of Lord Shiva at the location. The statue can be seen from Haripur Dhar town, and from a distance it almost feels like Lord Shiva is looking over the town and blessing everyone.

There are also benches near the statue where you can simply sit down and take in the 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains, forests and small villages.

But for me, the best part wasn't just the view.

There was something very peaceful about sitting there.

The deodar trees, cold mountain air, silence, the surrounding hills and the presence of Lord Shiva together created a feeling that is difficult to explain in words. It was one of those places where you naturally become quiet and just enjoy the moment.

Maybe that's what I liked most about this place.

It wasn't just another viewpoint or trekking destination for me. For a few moments, it felt like I had stepped into the mountain life I have always imagined.

So come along with me on this journey and experience the beauty, peace and raw mountain vibes of Haripur Dhar, Sirmaur. ❤️🏔️
