Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal Trek
Vasuki Tal Trek — one of the most stunning high-altitude lake treks in Uttarakhand. This trek starts from Kedarnath (3,584 m) and climbs about 8 km uphill to reach Vasuki Tal (4,135 m) — a beautiful glacial lake nestled among the mighty Himalayan peaks. The total elevation gain is around 550 m, making the Vasuki Tal Trek a steep yet rewarding climb for adventure lovers and pilgrims alike.
🌿 Spiritual Significance of Vasuki Tal Trek
According to Hindu legends, Lord Vishnu once bathed in Vasuki Tal, making this glacial lake sacred for devotees. The lake is named after Vasuki — the serpent king who is often depicted around Lord Shiva’s neck. Many pilgrims visiting Kedarnath extend their journey to Vasuki Tal to experience both divine peace and the raw beauty of the Himalayas.
🏔️ Our 2020 Vasuki Tal Trek Attempt
We first attempted the Vasuki Tal Trek five years ago, in 2020. But heavy fog and continuous rainfall forced us to turn back before reaching the lake. It was one of those treks that stayed incomplete in our hearts.
Exactly five years later, we returned — with the same excitement, stronger will, and a hope to finally witness Vasuki Tal in its full glory. This video captures that unfinished dream turning into reality.
🌄 About the Trek
The trail from Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal offers breathtaking views of Kedarnath peaks, and the surrounding glaciers. As you leave behind the Kedarnath Temple, the path winds through rocky ridges, alpine meadows, and snow patches, eventually opening up to a pristine glacial lake that mirrors the sky above.
This Vasuki Tal Trek from Kedarnath is more than a physical climb — it’s a journey of faith, perseverance, and connection with nature. Every step takes you closer to the clouds, and when you finally reach the lake, you understand why it’s called one of the most divine and scenic treks in Uttarakhand.
