If you've been on the hunt for a good masc. fit jumper, you might have seen the Niels Sweater in passing on Ravelry or Instagram. In this video I'll be sharing my experience knitting up this pattern, what my likes and dislikes were, and a comparison to Petiteknit's fem. fit version, the Lyon Sweater.

Great review and comparison, thank you Katie. I get annoyed when lots of versions of basically the same knit pattern is pumped out by designers UNLESS there is something like the detail you've reviewed and the pattern is really worth the purchase. Anne🌄NW Tassie

Great review of the Niels! .. i made this for my husband for his birthday (no measuring) .... he is tall and thin - started with the medium, spent a whole day knitting that (realized that it could be snug).....restarted again - knitted the large size because I knew the shoulder fit was my main focus. Added some sleeve and body length for his height.......Fits like a glove and looks great on him....this is a wonderful basic sweater for a man.

Thanks Katie, this was very useful. As the mum of a guy with 60 inch chest and 6 foot 6 inch tall finding a good fitting pattern has been a challenge but to have the fit reviewed with recommended alterations is amazing. I hope you are getting some good sweater weather still. 👩‍🌾🐑🐮🚜

I just made the Niels sweater for my grandson. I made the XL because my yarn wasn’t quite as thick as called for. It fit beautifully. He wanted the sleeve to fit on the shoulder. Normally he wears a medium to large. But it was great and the fit is perfect.

This was so helpful! I have knit one sweater for Nathan - it is a raglan, which he loves. But I am excited to play around with different constructions. I will absolutely check out a contiguous set-in sleeve! (PS - I absolutely love learning from you!)
