I remember watching sailor moon R as a kid with my siblings, and all 4 of us exchanged the most DIABOLICAL side eyes when they revealed that corrupt chibiusa's name was black lady 😭

The 90s anime is iconic (the one with no clips), greetings from Mexico

I just need to emphasize the fact that when Venus' pure heart was extracted, instead of passing out like everybody else (including the other Guardians), she stayed conscious, ran laughing maniacally for a few blocks, and then had the wherewithal to hide in a parking garage before FINALLY falling over. They don't always show it that much, but aside from Sailor Moon, Venus is actually the strongest Guardian and I think that moments like this hint at that. On top of having the most experience and resembling Princess Serenity, there's a reason why she's the leader.

That Sweet Home Alabama music drop cracks me up every time 😂

PEAK!!!!
Had me locked in from beginning to end. I think this is my new fav sghope video 💖🌙

Hey everyone! I’m very proud of how this video turned out. A few things to note…

1. Games, Musicals, and other media besides the shows/movies are not presented here. Those could be videos on their own with the amount of lore in those mediums.

2. If you don’t agree with my final ranking or any opinions in this video, that is totally fine! Just PLEASE be respectful.

3. In the name of the moon, thank you for watching. 🌙✨

EDIT- I’ve noticed two small visuals errors and I apologize for that- but for a video this big, I’m considering it a win. It’s been awhile since I’ve made a video this big. 😅😅

Personally i cant decide which is the best version of Sailor Moon but we can all agree, it's one of the most famous anime franchises of all time

thank you R movie for giving us the best song on this planet moon revenge

Chibi-Usa: fading in and out of existence

If you guys want to know which Sailor Moon they are from in the thumbnail:

The One with thebright yellow hair with no clips: 90s
The One in the middle with the Pinkish bow: PGSM
the last one: Manga/Crystal

SAILOR MOON IS AN INSPIRATION!!!🌝🌹🐈‍⬛✨
While I love the 90s anime to death, I've grown an amount of respect for Crystal despite the off-putting animation in the first two seasons, I love the Eternal & Cosmos movies (even the 3 OVA films in the 90s), & I'm really fond of PGSM! Each of them has inspired parts of my work, my stories, & even my persona! I love the way you go through each version with such delight, but I also appreciate how you're able to acknowledge noticeable flaws they have. Neither are perfect, but they helped make way for people to create their own Magical Girl stories & shows! Plus, I LIVE for the aesthetics!❤🌹❤

The change to who Chibi Chibi is in the 90s anime is weird because there’s a moment in the anime when some old guy claims her and Usagi have the same aura (or something like that). I know this isn’t what happened (probably), but it feels like someone either guessed right or already knew about the reveal, but they changed it anyway.

22:29 OMG i cried laughing at gabe’s “NO.” 😂

I just started watching the Viz dub of 90's Moon, and this video pops up. I checked it out b/c Miraculous and Star Vs FOE took heavy inspiration from it. As a 27 year old trying to rewatch Toonami stuff from his youth, this ranking was a treat. 😂

When I was in college, I watched both Sailor Moon animes out of a sense of both curiosity and out of respect for a legacy anime series. I watched each show arc by arc, switching back and forth whenever I was done with a season (though Cosmos hadn't come out at the time, so I read the manga instead) and it was quite the interesting experience to see how the 90s anime adapted certain elements from the manga with the little material that was available and how Crystal was able to stay faithful to the manga while also sprinkling in some elements from the 90s anime and from PGSM. I would later watch PGSM for and become enamored by how fantastic a live action adaptation it was and still is my favorite iteration of Sailor Moon.

I will say that as far as the animated shows go, I do slightly prefer Crystal for Usagi and Mamoru’s romance, a more rounded depiction of the Senshi, and a more streamlined and focused depiction of each arc’s conflict. While I do appreciate and respect the 90s anime for its soundtrack, fun battle sequences, intriguing twists to the villains, and balancing the main story with small slice of life side stories that give the main characters slightly more depth, I can't help but feel checked out due to how much the first two seasons change the Usagi and Mamoru romance into a "will they/won't they" troupe that's dragged out far longer than it should've lasted, the different characterizations of both Mamoru and Rei compared to the manga, and the moments of bickering between the Senshi because they often escalated to a level where I would question why they were friends in the first place. I prefer the characterizations of the cast from the manga/Crystal because even though there isn't as much time spent to develop the inner Senshi's friendships, their dynamic felt more real to me, both when they're teasing one another and when they're being the kind of confidants that are as close as family.

My personal favorite is the OG anime version. I’ve seen the  newer adaptation and the manga version, but I like a lot of the filler the OG anime added. The filler gave us more character interactions between the girls during down time and fleshed out the villains by giving them depth. The newer adaptation and the manga didn’t let the characters sit down and take a breather, it was always plot plot plot.

PGSM is literally my favorite iteration. I glaze it so much always a favorite way to get my friends into sailor moon

PGSM the perfection you are

Straight to watching, straight to my comfort playlist
