I get quite emotional watching young people enjoy the greatness of Dire Straits because this is the music that has kept me going for the last 40 years. Their music is so ageless. I really hope you enjoy the rest of your Dire Straits journey ❤
I was privileged to work with Dire Straits on the tour before this one. (Making Movies, 1981) all over Europe and the UK. It was my first tour, and what a treat to watch them performing almost every night.. (we did have a couple of days off). At one outdoors gig in Italy, Mark said that they were going to play a new song. He didn't know if it was going to be on the new album or not, but "let us know what you think of it" then went into a 20 minutes blistering rendition of Telegraph Road. It blew everyone away.. ❤️👌
I was there that night Telegraph road was an encore, I was 23 I'm now 66,and it still makes me very emotional. 😊😊 Yes, he, was a, classicly trained pianist. ❤
I really enjoy your reaction style. You actually let the song breathe and experience it instead of constantly talking over every second of it. You can already see through your facial expressions what the music is making you feel, and that makes the reaction feel much more genuine and immersive.
So many reaction channels keep interrupting the music every few seconds, and it completely kills the atmosphere — especially with a band like Dire Straits. This was honestly super refreshing to watch.
I think I may have written this somewhere before but Telegraph Road is the closest thing you can get to a classical symphony in rock music. The ebbs and flows, the musicianship and the story it tells are peerless. We're still listening to Beethoven almost 200 years after he died and sincerely hope this song endures in the same way. Great reaction.
I’ve always felt Telegraph Road is as much a piano song as it is a guitar song. Alan Clarke never gets the attention he deserves for his contribution to this masterpiece.
in the 44 years (44, let that sink in) i've been listening to this track, every time is like the 1st, I never ever tire of it, every time a reaction video comes up I have to watch it, just so I can see people get the same pleasure from it as I do. To me Dire Straits were at their absolute best at this point.
Dire Strairs and Marc at the height of their powers!!! Greatest live performance EVER!!! Trust me, I was there!!!! Our generation had and still has the best music!!!
The clear tone of Mark's guitar. The ATTACK!!! His notes are like laser beams, precise and sharp, always different, always nice and complex, a lot of notes, of harmonies. It's very difficult to play with such a clear tone, no place for errors. And seeing him playing LIVE so effortless is incredible. What a guitarist. Best finger player of all time.
Glad you finally made it to this version! Mark Knopfler is a god on the guitar, but Terry Williams on the drums, was worldly - rumour has it , his Dad was in the audience at the alchemy london show, so he went full on mode!
I was born in England in 1954 and this was the music of my generation. For whatever reason, post-war Britain produced a whole slew of gifted musicians that created incredible music with us and for us. I am so glad they were able to record these performances for posterity, so that people for generations to come will be able to enjoy it.
