"But now we shall surely both drown," said the frog.

"lol," said the scorpion. "Lmao"

2weeksKo

"a minimum of two years from today"

they announced today that the game will be ceasing development by the end of the year, december 2026. oof.

4:00 they can say this, but Concord said the same thing. Companies have no qualms rescinding promises anymore.

It really says something that, when the news dropped, one of the most common things I heard people say about it was 'Wait, that came out already?' I dunno know what they were thinking calling it 2XKO and not 'Blank Blank: A League of Legends Game'. Also, Pat made a real good point on Bluesky that he didn't repeat here about the costume prices; it's real hard to justify dropping money on the skins when you can get whole-ass games for the same amount. You're gonna tell me this one skin is gonna give me the same bang-for-my-buck as HADES 2?

Based on all the times the devs have massively reworked the game, they clearly needed a leader with a real vision. Based on how many people didn't even know the game came out until they saw the downsizing post, they clearly needed an actual marketing budget.

Minus 80 post release? Call that Negative Edge

"IT'S FOR FREE! If you don't like it then just leave!"

And then the world continued to spin and life went on...

You're right, this isn't a post-mortem, it's a doc telling his patient he's got 6 months left.

24:50 Don't ask questions, don't demand better, just consume product and get excited for next product.

The thing that gets me is the 30 minutes heads up before they were fired, even with the 6 month severance pay.

Well at least there are other good multiplayer games to play like Highguard.

"Wildlight Entertainment has laid of most if its staff."

YEAH VIDEOGAMES!

I was on the ground floor when LoR was killed. Seen all of this shit before. Expect around half a year's support before they pull the plug entirely.

It has been funny/weird to watch the glow instantly come off the game with this news. Like, a bunch of people making really valid points about it being a tag vs solo game are suddenly being heard now that they aren’t being downvoted to oblivion.

I remember people getting pissed at me when I said I thought 2XKO launching with 10 characters was unacceptable in this day in age, but no they said it didn't matter because it was FREE! Sure they had time to develop overpriced skins, but didn't have time to actually make meaningful content for the game, well look where we are now. I also can't believe people are trying to cope by saying cutting the dev team in half is good for the longevity for the game. These guys still can't fix the screen tearing on PS5 with 160 people and I'm supposed to be confident they can right the ship with half as many hands?

So while its true the game isnt dead, to the average person it might as well be- what they announced wasnt death but the promise of death

2XKO has entered hospice care

Never forget riot games had an employee who asked for paternity leave and rather then give them PTO they fired the employee. This is standard riot behavior.

The game devs saying it wanted to appeal to casuals but not have single player content, makes me wonder if 2xko was developed during the fighting games discourse of not needing single player modes to get the general public to stick around

Insert the “okay Mario no Mario” meme.

The fact that last year this could've yet again pulled a Multiversus and  stole a Fighting Game of the Year award from yet another SNK game is laughable.
