“Me and my brother dislike each other but we both work with Batman” is such a great premise. Sucks they missed the opportunity

I just realized they could do a Luke and Duke book.

Jace should have been part of Batman Incorporated; that way, him just randomly showing up as a Batman would've made more sense

I think we call agree that the reason why Jace failed is because he has next to no relationship with the Batfamily other than being the estranged son of Lucius Fox. He’s never interacted with the Batfamily, never shared a scene with Bruce or his brother Luke, and doesn’t participate in any events

Geee, a Black-lead Gotham story. Who could they POSSIBLY use for that? Looks at Orpheus who was abandoned and killed off, never to ever be brought back.

There's entire graveyards full of forgotten Batfamily members. Anybody know what happened to Harper Row/Bluebird or Azrael? Hell,, you could probably do an entire episode on those two alone.

The big takeaway I ever got from Jace Fox, is A) How DC handled the "Diverse Legacy Heroes" worse than Marvel, & B) John Ridley was the worst thing to happen to Black Superhero comics given this, Black Panther, & his reworking of Amanda Waller's origins in an Absolute Power tie-in.

I still don’t understand why it wasn’t Duke.

From reading the new 52 Batman run, it makes sense that if anyone was to be a new Batman it would be him. Because….

Oh I don’t know….

HE HAS THE SAME ORIGN AS BRUCE!

Now I want a team up with Batwing, Steel, and Nubia as a new incarnation of the Trinity like how the Outlaws are meant to be the ruthless and black sheep Trinity

I'm still so angry that "Jace" has a stupid name change with no reason given, AND the series ruined Luke and Lucius and Tam Fox for NO reason.

He never interacted with the batfamily thats why he failed

The only time they build on Batman is for stories they never touch again. Which sucks because the potential for every character that has ever been Batman or in the bat family or in Batman incorporated has limitless potential.

Thank you for highlighting these characters. DC hasn’t handled their introductions well, and they misuse their black characters anyway. But “fans” of the Bat Family in particular have always been mixed/kind of harsh and disrespectful to the black Bat family members.

I hope we see them better utilized soon. There’s so much potential with these characters.

I feel like he should've had his own unique Mantel. He could've been Owlman🤌🏾🔥 or a new guy named "Crow" or "Blackwing" "Darkhawk"

Luke Fox was a BETTER CHOICE to be the "new Batman" than Jace Fox because he already had some ....some build-up fan base.... from the Batwing comic series.

EDIT (30-05-2026): The Batwing comics were superb. I enjoyed it better than the 'black batman/ I am Batman' version.

Thanks for this video. As a 56 y/o black man, I have waited over three decades for a major character in the bat family. Really thought Orpheus was going to be a series like Nightwing. I can go on with my disappointments since then, but I won’t. DC should do a new Gotham Knights series for all the characters that have fallen to the wayside, Batgirls, Tim Drake, Signal and Jace. Solo and team ups. I think it would sell.

Because it was being pushed by Dan Didio and such and DC had no one at a executive level to fight for it

The mistake DC made was going with Jace as Batman instead of Luke.Cuz Luke has more ties to the Bat family instead of Jace.

Loved the Future State costume with the full face covering cowl. So badass and like Batman Beyond 1.0 in a way. Then they got rid of that and he looked dumb.

2:15 THIS SHIT was fire ngl I liked David 10x better as batwing, that Judd winnick run was fire idk how many ppl read it…
