Just realized how it tells us immediately that black mamba doesn’t care about whose house she’s walking to because she doesn’t use the walking path she just walks through their grass 😭
The animated segment might be my favorite single scene from a movie. It's so brutally sad, but the beautiful music and fantastic animation makes it so moving and beautiful. It's like its own little short film that was set into the movie. The overall narrative doesn't really need it, but it's so fantastic nonetheless. It's funny you mention the song reminds you of Once upon a time in the West, and The Good the Bad and the Ugly. Same guy who made the music: Ennio Morricone.
They hint that The Bride knows Japanese early on in the sushi shop. Watch her work to surpress a grin when the argument about being a general happens. It's the small touches that make this movie so good.
There are at least three shots in the color version where it's obviously water, may be where that rumour came from. I think they were gunna be cut completely but when the decision was made to go black and white, the water shots were added back to improve the flow of the scene.
John Peter Farnham AO (born 1 July 1949) is a British-born Australian singer. Farnham was a teen pop idol from 1967 until 1979, billed until then as Johnny Farnham. He has since forged a career as an adult contemporary singer.[1] His career has mostly been as a solo artist, although he replaced Glenn Shorrock as lead singer of Little River Band from 1982 to 1985. had cancer retired recovered and returned to singing. ^ thanks Wikipedia
Revenge movies are some of the best. Kill Bill, Count of Monte Cristo, Shawshank Redemption, Robocop, The Patriot, V for Vendetta, Gladiator... So many greats.
Wow...this disappeared so fast yesterday...I hope it stays up. LOL Also...in case nobody commented about it, the "son number one" bit 9:29 is an homage to Charlie Chan and that series of movies centered on the character, who often referred to his son and assistant that way. Also...any real katana would have a full tang...so the metal of the blade would go all the way to the end of the grip.
Kimono actually works well for Japanese swordfighting. You want to take small steps not lunging ones so youre always balanced. In films theres always these long battles with lots of sword clashing but in reality theres rarely more than a few strikes. They move thier feet until an opening is presented, then strike. Aposed to western sword fighting that makes lots of strikes to force an opening.
Actors can renegotiate their deals if the movie is split into multiple parts, regardless of when the decision is made. SAG contracts have a "Salkind clause", which was named for the Salkind brothers after they did not inform the actors and crew who signed for The Three Musketeers (1973) that they intended to split the movie into The Four Musketeers (1974) as well, leading to a number of lawsuits. One of my uni friends, V., knew Daryl Hannah from high school and synagogue. Hannah's step-uncle was a cinematographer, but she told V. that had nothing to do with being cast in Brian de Palma's The Fury (1978) when she was 17. V. thought that was a bit fishy; she may not have asked, but she attended Hollywood parties and everyone knew she had connections in the biz. Who knows?
