Alex's death is the saddest and the most disturbing for me. His poor mom looking for him breaks my heart every time.

Storytelling 101: "Never kill kids or dogs."

Spielberg: (Laughs).

The suspension. The fakeouts.
Not shying away from it being
the little boy in the end...
Legendary writing and directing.

I remember reading somewhere that the kid who played Alex owns a restaurant, and the woman who played his mother happened to go there one day by coincidence. It was the first time they met since filming.

Did you know that if you play JAWS backwards, its a beautiful story about a shark giving arms and legs to disabled people

I have a job that involves watching kids. The part where Brody looks past the guy who’s talking to him to see the teens screaming in joy is how I feel whenever I lose track of my kids, even for a single second.

AS A PERSON WHO SAW JAWS AT 6 YEARS OLD WHEN IT CAME OUT IN 1975,THESE REACTIONS ARE PRICELESS.THESE ARE THE SAME REACTIONS THE AUDIENCE HAD BACK 50 YEARS AGO.

Saw that as a kid when it came out in the theater. Absolutely no one in 1975 was ready for that second shot of the shark killing the kid. That’s why like a whole generation became scared of going in the ocean.

I was 17 years old when this came out I lived in California and nobody went in the water. The beaches were full, but the water was empty. It was just a strange thing. What this movie did to people.

This whole sequence is a masterclass in filmmaking.
The whole movie is a masterclass in filmmaking, but this is definitely one of the outstanding sequences.

Spielberg was at a screening of the movie sitting in the back
During the Alex scene a person walked out and Spielberg followed them because he thought they walked out because the movie was bad
The person got to the lobby and Spielberg saw them throw up
The scene had made them physically ill

A friend of mine worked at the local theater when this came out. He said he lost track of how many people ran out screaming and or throwing up.

Young people today can’t begin to get the impact this movie had. People stood in lines that wrapped around a theater for hours. Sitting in a completely packed theater without a single empty seat. The crowd reactions were deafening! I’m 62 now and was 13 when I saw it with some friends and my brother, who was 9. He was so traumatized that afterward he wouldn’t go swimming in a pool or even take a bath for years. He’s 58 now and still won’t go in the ocean.
