Azeroth Reimagined – Loch Modan | Rebuilding the Dwarven Frontier

Azeroth Reimagined is a passion project,
exploring how World of Warcraft's iconic zones could be expanded
while preserving the spirit, lore and design philosophy of Classic WoW.
Working on one of my favorite regions in all of World of Warcraft,
Khaz Modan, we start today with Loch Modan.

Loch Modan is more than just a leveling zone:
A land of ancient engineering, rich mines, quiet farms
and hidden mysteries.

From new questlines and reputation factions to environmental storytelling and worldbuilding.

Here we combine established Warcraft lore
with personal speculation and Classic+ concepts.

Your effort does not go unnoticed! I'm so happy I found this channel. It's really awesome. If this is what Classic+ would be like, then I'll never quit!

What I would really like to see is a far bigger 'Old Ironforge'. Holding the tombs of many ancestors we've never heard of before, perhaps also the tomb of King Modimus Anvilmar. Unfortunately, his tomb is overrun by a monster, a necromancer of sorts, that's trying to revive the Dwarves and attack Ironforge from within (just an idea). The adventurer is tasked to delve into Old Ironforge and remove them, and restore the graves so that they may rest in peace.

In my head, I've been conceptualizing an overhaul of WoW's political dynamic and thinking of four factions. Two an abridged version of what exists in Classic: Alliance (Dwarves, Humans, Gnomes), Horde (Orc, Tauren, Troll). Alliance and Horde would remain hostile towards each other. Then there'll be a Lordaeron faction (High/Blood Elves and Undead, united against the scourge and their feelings of abandonment by the Alliance) and a northern Kalimdor Faction (Night Elves and Furbolg). Both new factions are initially unfriendly, not hostile, towards Alliance and Horde. New factions would work like the allied races in retail -- only playable after you become exalted with both faction races. Feel like the new factions would be ambivalent towards each other??

There'd be a system where Horde/Alliance intra-faction reputations harms the reputation towards the new factions. Gaining Stormwind reputation lowers Lordaeron rep. Gaining Thunderbluff/Orgimmar rep lowers the north Kalimdor.
