Garnett is getting his number retired in Minnesota this season, in 2027, already been announced.

Immediately retire Brunsons jersey, he has to wear a new number this season

As a hornets fan I'm a bit sad that we haven't retired kemba walkers #15 yet, I get that our team hasn't been successful but we should be honoring our loyal franchise goat

As a Celtics fan I'm waiting for the day we get a guy wearing decimals or symbols like pi or infinity.

15:37 Bam’s number is for sure getting retired. He’s 2nd in scoring in team history, will be their all-time leader in rebounds and was a major part of those Finals runs in 2020 & 2023. Plus the 83-point game & all his community work through 10 years clinch it

Fred VanVleet being mentioned before Siakam is crazy. FVV left in free agency for nothing and wasn't starting in 2019

Carmelo didn't choose NY in free agency right? They had to trade for him and gave away valuable assets that could've helped with winning.

He could've waited but his impatience hurt him and the knicks. Jamal Murray was the 7th pick acquired through pick swap. Also the 2014 pick that was 12th.

I remember reading this article recently, as others said at the time the idea of retiring the number of a third contributor on a championship team is crazy to me, it should be only for the best of the best imo

Russell Westbrook was skipped because he is retired. The Thunder retire his number after his first ballot Hall of Fame induction.

I do think the Nuggets should retire Carmelo’s number after Jokic retires. Then when Jokic gets in the 1st ballot of the Hall of Fame the Nuggets can retire 15 again but for Jokic.

Not really surprising the differences between teams. Some franchises have storied histories, others have done nothing of note. Some franchises are old, others not so much. Some teams are stricter in their requirements for retirement than others, outside the frist argument. The key thing is generally that a player has to be very good and/or a franchise icon to be considered and leaving on a bad note might sour some chances.

4:30 As a born and raised Spurs fan, the main reason that Kawhi won't get retired in SA is that we hate him still. We love Pop to death, that man is like the collective grandpa for the entire city, and we kept booing Kawhi's snake ass even after Pop told us to stop. If he get's his jersey retired in San Antonio, I think it would genuinely make a lot of Spurs fans legitimately angry and we're not used to that shit.

Melo was traded to the Knicks, which gutted their line-up. He could have waited to go as a free agent but was afraid he'd lose his bag due to the new collective bargaining agreement that was on the way.

@chrisbarnett5303 3 days ago

the Spurs would retire Derek Fisher or Ray Allen's number before Kawhi's.

@DarkSaib0t 1 day ago

I can’t see a uni were where Kawhi gets his jersey retired by the Spurs, not even just because of Dylan Harper but because of the entire fiasco, they despise each other

Warriors already said they will retire 35. There's no way the Thunder do though, especially now that they've won a title in the post-Durant era.

As a Cavs fan, I couldn't agree with you more about retiring everyone from 2016. Put the entire starting lineup up there: 2, 5, 23, 0, and 13.

Brook Lopez is an absolute lock. He has that franchise points record, but he was also the longest tenured player in team history. Sucks that he was mostly stuck on garbage teams.

I think they could retired KD's number for the same reason you gave Melo for the Knicks. It wad very significant thst he chose the Nets with Kyrie, we've NEVER had any star free agents in our history. And unlike Kyrie he's still on good terms with the organization.

I think RJ should be up there too, though he kicked off his broadcasting career with the Nets and still stops by from time to time so he will always be a presence with the team.
