This movie has stood the test of time!

They should plan a 25th anniversary release in 2024 of the director's cut. The soundtrack is superb and sets the tone exactly. This is one of those films that never gets old and is worth watching over and over, like Casablanca or The Searchers. I think the romance between the girl and Iban should have been more developed with a better ending concerning her. She just drops out of sight.

The cinematography, casting, screen writing, musical score and ultimately the acting of each character had a "synergy". As I recall viewing the film in theater. I felt an emersion in the film that created a feeling of sitting on a horse next to them and put the audience at the edge of their seats. The experience was literally quite incredible. After the climax and final moments, I felt as though I wanted to join them on their next adventure. The film was a total masterpiece.

So many wonderful moments from which come quotes we use in our family all the time..."Is there a cave?"...."It is a good day to die"...."Honey.  It's made from honey.". And Ibn's prayer.

We deserve the McTiernan cut! It's one of my favourite movies and I believe we deserve the director's cut to see how he envisioned it.

This film is one of my favorites...

Almost every time that a novel turns to a movie, you hear complains that "The movie really ruined the story of the book".
Well, this might be the only time when the Author actually "ruined" the movie!

Regardless, I love this film! It is one of the last "organic" films without CGI (except the sea travelling scenes).
Big thanks to John McTiernan for this movie and for Predator!

The learning of their language scene was incredibly genius on paper, but, also, expertly done on film too.  A credit to the editors that put that together.

This was my brother's favorite movie. He passed in December. I would love a 25th anniversary release with the director's cut! This is a very well done movie and will always hold a special place in my heart.

A brilliant, under-rated classic. I love this film.

never get bored watching it

Director's Cut we need it !!!

What makes this film great is that quality of mystery and Nordic authenticity.  The whole cast was fantastic, really adding a mystique that works on all levels. The language transitions, historical details, etc...great. The Nordic cast especially...everyone was great, memorable.

Flopped in 1999, became a manly cult film in the 2000s and beyond; not all flops can say that

I missed it in the theater. Rented it on Vhs. Bought a copy the next day and watched it 25 evenings in a row. Not just because summer tv sucked. Every time I watched it, every time I watch it now, I see details which have gone unnoticed. Incredible film.

Glad I got to experience this on the big screen in 99 with my best friend. I watch this once a year and just this month had a close friend watch it.

See to your friend.  He was a brave man.

The wife and I have watched the movie a dozen times, and it's a favorite.  It has everything.  Action, adventure, comedy... a great plot, and it's very well done in every aspect.  We will have to break it out and watch it again tonight.

1 of my truly favourite movies ever! I loved it from the time I first saw it. I moved to Campbell River a few years after watching it without realizing that 13th Warrior was filmed here. Funny the way things happen sometimes.

This movie was definitely one of the most technically well done movies that I had seen in awhile. I also read the book before the movie came out, so I might have a bias. In the book, when Buliwyff comes out for the final battle, he had all but already been killed, however he comes out with crows on his shoulders and as far as his Viking brethren could see, they were witnessing an avatar of Odin himself. The imagery was pretty inspiring.
