I'm from Argentina. I've seen this movie more times than I can remember. it's the epic movie's grial. I've learned English with it. i know every piece of dialogue. Hollywood couldn't do any better than this, ever.
The one and only best Arthur film that cinema could ever offer. Perfect cast, perfect story, perfect direction, perfect score Wagner, perfect production design, perfect  costumes.

“Come, father. Let us embrace at last”

This line & the scene that unfolds  has stayed with me for decades.

One of the most important films of my life. Absolutely amazing, makes my hair tingle. The music, the actors, the cinetography. Just blows my mind and brings me to tears it's so amazing. Thank you to all that gifted us this film x

RIP Nigel Terry. The best King Arthur portrayal on screen.

Best King Arthur movie ever.

Liam said it: "Excalibur" is a real movie. I wish we could say that about 99% of the movies produced nowadays. An incredible masterpiece achievement, John Boorman's Excalibur we'll always remain as the biggest Arthurian film ever produced. Amazing production, incredible cast and epic score, both from Richard Wagner, Carl Orff and Trevor Jones. I remember how impressed I was back then when it was premiered. I liked it better than Raiders of the Lost Ark that came out at the same time, and I like that one a lot too. Great doc, thanks.

John Boorman captured something so incredibly atmospheric and magical. His choice of music is inspired and it’s ALL real, no cgi.

For those who have not seen this film, do so, it's a masterpiece.

Not many movies deserve the accolade "masterpiece" but this is one of them.. An absolute gem of a movie

It’s one of the greatest movies that is never played.

This film is the benchmark against which all other Arthurian films are measured against.
… and fall short.

The importance of this movie for us young impressionable kids is not to be understated. The aesthetics, armor, weapons, horses, the music, Wagner, Carmina Burana, and the lore. I had read every piece of Arthurian legend - and many more besides. Thank you all for this gift 🙏

One of my favourite films.

When I think in the King Arthur, and I close my eyes, I see... Excalibur.

This Masterpiece is finally available in 4k UHD, what a achievement really :face-blue-wide-eyes:

I can remember seeing this in 1981 in the old  Metropolitan Theater built in 1918.  This was the first time in my young life where a movie swept you away in a  fever dream like state of amazing images, enveloping and blood rushing music and dark and thrilling epic storytelling. Nicole Williamson making Merlin like an alien from another long ago and forgotten age dealing with humans as children who were just born was one of the great performance I have seen of that character. Boorman was working at the height of his filmmaking powers to create a film universe that was vibrant, alive and mythopoetic that tapped that vein of ancient heroism and legend that sits in the back of your mind. Powerful emotional experience I have never had in any other film.

Have to say this is my favourite film ever

I've always had a genuine love for this film.  Nicol Williamson portrayl of Merlin really was outstanding as well as enchanting ❤

This dark and bloody film has to be the best portrayal of the King Arthur legend.

Boorman did a great job.
