Nic Natanui is not a man you want launching on your shoulders.  This vision doesn’t convey it, but he is a huge unit.

You know what I love about the AFL, we have the best halftime show at every game.
Each game they send out over 100 kids under the age of 10 and set up a bunch of mini games so that the kids get to experience playing on real grounds in front of massive crowds.

Jeremy Howe who is in the video 3 times is a marking human highlight reel

Yeah, we used to play "Marks up" in school. You would have a kicker and a pack of about 5-10 guys about 20-30 metres/yards away and we would all try to take a mark. Ereryone would be trying to jump on someones head and take a screamer.

Jumping that high comes natural for Aussies from a very young age  -  Every time you step on a snake.

Herein we see one of the many reasons why Australian Football is a vastly superior spectacle to soccer and the rugby codes....

Hardest part isn't jumping up- it's timing. And spacial judgment. These blokes are doing this on a whim in a moments decision. That's why it's so exciting. It's near peak physicality and it's explosive. Your opponents can do this too and you almost never want to take your eye of the ball.
Secondly it's risky. If you're behind your opponent, 9 times out of 10 they'll have the advatange.

A mark has nothing to do with jumping on each other.

Most marks are taken standing on the ground, often uncontested.

RIP Andrew Krakouer.

The man with the first mark of the compilation

Love watching Americans discover aussie rules, its a beautiful game and unlike anything else on earth.

The crazy thing sbout a lot of these marks is its deceiving just how high they're getting, as most of these players are 190+ cms, literlly climbing other 190+ cm dudes 😅

Thanks for sharing this video!  I grew up with the sport, and it's a lot of fun to watch your reactions to it as a new fan!

With marks, there's two types, 'contested' and 'uncontested' - the uncontested ones are when players catch a ball (after it has been kicked) when they don't have any opposition players around them.  A contested mark is when multiple players are trying to catch the ball, pushing, shoving and jumping all over each other to win it, or punch it away.  It's common for players to have multiple (say 6 or more) marks a game, but they won't all be contested marks.

australian rules football players are expected to be good at a large number of skills within the game in comparison to nfl where it is more specialised

Thank you for making this video!  This was a request I made in your previous AFL video and I loved your reaction and wanting to clap throughout. Spectacular Footage 😍

When going for a mark nothing is stopping the defender from taking the mark. You are correct, its all about positioning and who can catch the ball first defender or attacker.

When Moorcroft's was at #2, I'm like well no1 has to be Shaun Smith. At the very peak of his climb you see a camera flash directly in line with the tv camera. They tracked down the spectator who took that shot. It was an elderly lady, and she absolutely nailed the photo. They had her on The Footy Show, and they presented her with a signed, framed full size print of her own photo.

I’m sitting in hospital after just having a heart attack and this puts a big smile on my face to see you celebrating the game we love.

One of the hardest parts of footy is reading the flight and drop of the ball, particularly if the breeze is blowing. That’s why a lot of them look out of position, and that’s the perfect opportunity for someone to get a run at it and use them as a step ladder.

I love your enthusiasm for our national sport. The rules are incredibly confusing to learn and to umpire, but you're doing well to soak it in.

What your not getting is the player jumps earlier than the player under them but they still jump so the player higher up gets “THE RIDE “ this action pushes them up even further

Jesaulenko at 5'7" over Collingwoods Ruckman at 6' 6" is still 1# Mark of the Century.
