My fav hobbie is seeing people react to raye. It’s so cool you even said you watched her genius reaction

I think she’s without doubt the most authentic performer around.  I find her  mesmerising to watch.

I don't think I've ever seen a more epic performance. The soul, the voice, the choir and the band, the lyrics. It's just a perfect arrangement.

She utilizes a lot of creative freedom when performing live, it is simply amazing to watch. Every single one of her live performances is unique, a master of the craft playing with her creations

She’s also written songs for Beyoncé, Rhianna and John Legend. Share her everywhere, she’s an independent, let everyone experience her performances. The album is special.

Her singing Ice Cream Man just gets me every time... However, seeing her singing it on BBC 1 had me bawling for an hour. 😭

Her tiny desk concert is unbelievable  should have a listen. 🥰😍

I’ve been listening to raye since she was 16 and it’s always been very clear she’s born to be one of the greatest. Love seeing people outside the UK now learning the magnitude of her talent

The medley is actually Ice cream man, Pravda, Genesis and  Escapism. Love the way she performs barefoot on every live performance so she can feel the music. Really good tip.

holy batman..is right..and then i read an interview where raye said they rehearsed that performance for 30 min to an hour prior to the start  of the show that evening ....then 3 hours later she belting out...vocal work is crazy ..she is a sublime gift. Thank you for the review. She got some new songs out ..we will send the links..

This medley is the first that I ever saw/heard of Raye. To open with that song, in front of that crowd. You need to be incredible. That, the quality of the songs and the belter and smile at the end. She won me over!

yeah...she that girl...ate all of that..this is my billion time seeing her performance..and i been rockin with her every since..can't tell me nothin about her! 4eva

The BRIT Award medley's are usually reserved for long standing acts - Spice Girls, Justin Timberlake, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue.
But Raye was asked to do this one in the same year of her debut album release 🙌

Saw her last week in London. WOW WOW WOW what an amazing talent

Apart from her amazing voice, her abilities as a musician and song writer, she shares something with Marilyn Monroe, (apart from being similar physically) in that it is impossible to look at her and to not feel utter joy.

She is so incredibly talented she leaves everyone else in the shade!
The most important ARTIST to appear in my lifetime!

shes a savage❤ thank you so much for your review that was fun

Great reaction, please keep doing more RAYE, for me she's the real deal! Peace and love from Bavaria!

Gave me Goosebumps

Thank you for reacting to this one, Ken! This is personally in my top 3 performances of hers. Just have to say, I know you're trying to double up your work but I hope you're taking care of yourself. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon my friend! C'est la vie. I try to remind myself of that too.

I cry every time I watch this performance, especially knowing her record breaking wins that night. I'm surprised you didn't point out the montage in the background, I started paying attention to it and I think the visuals may be intentional. I'm actually going to be putting out some analysis videos for Raye's performances and MV's, this medley is first in the lineup. I think it was seeing when the montage showed her Ice Cream Man video timed with her belt crescendo, that I realized that the visuals were intentional. Now every time I watch this performance I can't unsee it, and it makes me bawl me friggin eyes out! To me it's truly symbolic of her perseverance despite her trauma.

Also speaking of the visuals, the little diamond symbols that flash during her little snippet of Genesis (that was the song right before Escapism, she teased it for this performance that's why Genesis isn't listed in the title) are definitely going to be in her music videos/visuals for her 2nd album. The same diamond symbols are in her Genesis MV, I've spotted them hidden in her recent festival set visuals, AND they're on her release date poster/t-shirt for 'Where The Hell Is My Husband?' as her 1st single from her 2nd album. Idk what they symbolize yet, but I wanted to point them out because I don't think a lot of Raye fans have caught on that she's that type of artist yet! (i.e. the kind that has a continuation of symbols and meaning through their work like little easter eggs)

As a kid/teen I would talk with my childhood best friend for hours about being music artists when we grew up, dreaming up cool stuff like all of what Raye is doing - surprising her audiences, genre switching, having a message, etc. Seeing her flourish has been healing me in ways I've yet to express. As she said in her recent set at Lowlands after not being able to finish performing Ice Cream Man without crying, "healing isn't linear" but "music is medicine".

**Edit only to add: Wishing everybody love, light and safety always - but especially right now. Raye was in the music industry at the right time...I can't even imagine how she feels rn seeing so many pr*dators in charge here in the US, and seeing p*do's get away with their crimes. As somebody who shares similar trauma to her, it feels personally disheartening. I hope we all stay strong and persevere, our world needs good folks like us 🫂
