Its inspired by Filipino Mythology. Others say that the Forgotten Island is thd lost city of Biringan. The Actors are majority Filipino like Liza Soberano, Hers, Lea Salonga

Here's my observation that it's tatak Pinoy,the blood compack(Sanduguan), Jeepney,manananggal,ibong adarna or sarimanok,the balisong,the flag sun.So proud

Philippine Culture is starting to go mainstream ❤

yes, Philippine representation in hollywood...looks like a good movie to look forward to..😁😁

Sooo muuuuch Filipino representation here!!!!! 😭😭😭😭 I angat ang kultura at talentong Pinoy sa buong mundo....

That eagle-like thing is a Sarimanok. It's a bird in Filipino Mindanao mythology, a reincarnation of a goddess who fell in love with a mortal man. Today it symbolises wealth and prestige in the Filipino culture.

Jo + Raissa = Jose Rizal

Very Filipino na napansin ko:
Uniform yung palda, lastiko, mabuhay, jeep, sanduguan, mananangal, sun, cable nag kuryente, ibong adarna o sarimanok, at it makes me remember talaga yung Filipino made animation "Dayo"

Sooo many Filipino references! Love the directors for doing this because yes, our culture is very rich. There’s the Manananggal, jeepney, PH sun, balisong, Sarimanok, Anito, spaghetti wires, etc.  sooo excited to see this in theaters soon!

9:30 Manny Jacinto is a Fil-Canadian who played Jason Mendoza in The Good Place. Liza Soberano played Taffy in Lisa Frankenstein and was the voice of Alexandra Trese in the animated adaptation of the comic (Filipino version) -- apart from her numerous movies in the PH.

I am psyched to see how they pars out our folktales, Mythology. Because if you look at it, all the Europen Fairytales were cautionary tales to people; but have been transformed into cute kid friendly ways. While our folktales, our Mythology stayed scary. Up till now. The Manananggal, Aswang, Sirena, Tikbalang, Kapre. all still scary and all still used and talked about and even featured during Undas TV specials. I love that they used the typical school clothes and patterns you see here in the philippines. even the rural areas you pass by going to Baguio or Subic or Batangas - the uniforms evoke kids you have seen wearing. our 8 ray sun from the flag signifying the 8 provinces that revolved against the Spanish Colonizers.

My Husband said that if that Bird thing is not a Sarimanok or Ibong Adarna there is another in Mythology called Minokawa. It like the Bakunawa - eats the sun and creates the Eclipse as our ancestors explained that phenomena.

I think this movie also represents Filipino immigrants or other immigrants who sometimes lose their identity when theh move to other countries.

The wings of Jo is manananggal one.

the balisong

1:14 balisong

I'm so excited, the film that's about the Filipino Mythology! So proud!

2015 me wouldn't have imagined my culture would be shown in dreamworks~~

Manny Jacinto is one of the Fiipino artists mentioned by Pablo in Visa. Dave at Basco, M. Jacinto... 😊
