What if the greatest impact you make in life has nothing to do with being a parent—and everything to do with being present?
On this episode of the New Dad Order Podcast, Ray and Parfait sit down with educator, strategist, entrepreneur, community leader, and content creator Tim San Filippo for a conversation about mentorship, faith, purpose, leadership, creativity, service, and discovering your “why.”
Tim’s journey is anything but ordinary.
From teaching and mentoring young people to doing mission work in Haiti, helping with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, serving his Louisiana community, helping build a Christian school, organizing charitable races, working in marketing and communications, and launching his own creative projects, Tim has spent much of his life finding ways to use his abilities to serve other people.
One of the most powerful lessons from this conversation is also one of the simplest: young people don’t always need adults to fix their problems. Sometimes they need an adult who is willing to be present, listen honestly, and help them discover potential they may not see in themselves.
Tim shares why helping young people “find their why” has become such an important part of his work as an educator and mentor. We discuss the difference one adult can make simply by giving a young person an opportunity, believing in them, and allowing them to grow.
But Tim’s story goes much deeper.
He takes us inside his time doing mission work in Haiti, where seeing extreme poverty changed his perspective on gratitude, entitlement, faith, and what really matters. He also explains how those experiences unexpectedly prepared him for Hurricane Katrina and the massive relief effort that followed in St. Bernard Parish.
Tim shares stories from living and working around a Katrina relief center, helping coordinate volunteers and supplies, and witnessing firsthand what happens when a community is devastated—and people decide to show up anyway.
We also explore Tim’s career in education, marketing, graphic design, communications, entrepreneurship, and content creation. He explains how his professional journey eventually led him to TSF Strategies and Pop Nakaro, his Louisiana-based platform focused on the people, places, creators, collectors, and passions that shape culture.
The conversation also dives into entrepreneurship and the reality of pursuing a passion project. How long should you keep going when nobody is paying attention? What happens when the thing you’ve spent years doing for other people becomes something you finally decide to build for yourself?
Tim also discusses artificial intelligence and creativity, including how he uses AI as a tool for research and productivity without allowing technology to replace the human creativity, experience, and relationships behind meaningful work.
And throughout the episode, one theme keeps resurfacing:
Be present.
Whether you’re a father, coach, teacher, mentor, business owner, Christian, community leader, or simply someone trying to positively influence the next generation, you don’t need to have every answer.
Sometimes you just need to show up.

Tim San Filippo gave us a lot to think about in this conversation—from mentoring young people and helping them find their “why,” to faith, Haiti, Hurricane Katrina, community service, entrepreneurship, creativity, and building something that makes an impact.
So we want to hear from you:
Who was the person who saw something in YOU before you saw it in yourself?
Give them their flowers in the comments. 👇 And if you’re now a father, coach, teacher, mentor, or leader, tell us how you’re trying to be that person for the next generation.
Faith. Family. Purpose. Presence.
That’s what the New Dad Order is about. 👑🎙
