Like every professional voice reactor, all of the emotion, and even lyrical content, goes completely over her head.

"I tell you one time, you're to blame". That's the key message in the song.

My poor parents could only hear the "woo-woos" from other rooms.
Ultimate trivia: 127 "woo-woos" - yes I got stoned and counted them.

This and Gimme Shelter are two of the greatest songs ever written .

Almost all Martin Scorsese movies have Stones songs featured prominently in them.

I love the way that Mc (Mick) and Keith. The only devil is within us. We have made an external spirt to justify our own evil within us.

The Master and Margarita is one of the greatest novels of the 20th century. It’s a wild, surreal story in which Satan shows up in 1930s Moscow and all sorts of mayhem ensues. Mick Jagger read it (recommended by Marianne Faithfull) and was inspired to write this song.

The "woo woo" is a train whistle. A runaway train that humanity is on. Huge, blind momentum on a predetermined track that isn't being extended fast enough. Or so says the protagonist, smugly mocking the terrified passengers trapped on his ride. "It's your fault for believing me. And if you show any hint that you don't, I'll show you the truth and you'll go mad," he threatens, hissing. Amazing storytelling power in this song.

Keith lays down the riffing that moves this great song along.

I remember how my dad told me the meaning of this song back in the 70s when my aunt called it a satanic song ...

"No, it's actually a life lesson", my Dad said, "People are quick to say 'The devil made me do it!', this is the devil answering 'No I didn't! Take responsibility for your own actions!". Too bad too many people these days don't get that simple message and point fingers at others over their own actions, but once again that's nothing new and has been that way since the beginning of time.

Erica, love your reactions! Honesty without cruelty is one of the greatest traits to have.

You will see their impact by watching live concerts; they are still playing and were a major powerhouse well into the 2000s.....Watching Mick and his stage antics is something to see

The best song that I know of which deals with the subject of the nefarious side of the human psyche (the Devil) making horrible choices resulting in death and destruction. Whether in the 20th century or any time in history, this is a very sobering reality of the manifestations of evil.

What strikes me is that Jagger was 25 when he wrote it. My favorite Stones song ❤

Adoro o Rolling Stones desd e que os ouvi Lady Jane pela primeira vez, em meados da década de 1960. Depois veio Angie, As tears go by, Satisfaction, Start me up, Gimme Shelter, She's a rainbow, Jumping Jach Flasch, Honk tonk Woman. Tudo que vem dos Rolling Stones eu curto, para mim a melhor banda de todos os tempos..
