He was older, yet he still had that voice that grabs you, and holds you in place to watch the story he had to tell.

“What are you going to do?” “ I’m gonna kill him” “ well I have to go to the market now, your lunch in on the table”

i love you Mr. Newland, wherever you are Beyond 😊💗

Excellent episode ! John Newland was great narrator & director , producer!

I had no idea they did a new series Next Step Beyond from the original One Step Beyond series

Enjoyed replay thanks for sharing your channel

I’ve watched all “Twilight Zone” all “Tales from the Darkside” all “Outerlimits” all “Tales from the crypt “ I’m Glad I’ve stumbled upon this! Love these Anthology

i'm surprised this series had a short run! Terrible shame!

I love these shows ❤

I first watched all of The Next Step Beyond episodes about 15 years ago, rewatching them all now. Yes, they do lack the original eerie atmosphere of the original series but I still enjoy them. Of course, it's a bonus that the original host John Newland is the presenter.

I did not realize until I saw this episode here that I did in fact watch some of this series back in the late 1970’s. This episode I remembered in particular with the murderer strangling himself at the end. The 70’s were really big on the paranormal and ESP so shows like this were common.

Thank you for showing this classic.  I wish someone would show the Night Gallery series. I cannot find that one anywhere.

Had no idea some shows still had ‘married’ couples sleeping in separate beds in the late 70s!!

“Marijuana and other drugs are part of that ‘scene’ as you people put it...aren’t they?” Far out

Love this show

It  would be Fantastic if you could haunt someone that put you in prison and  basically frames you for the crimes that  they actually committed. This was a great episode . Thank you for Posting  !!

This was a syndicated TV series that was an official spinoff of the.ABC series, "ALCOA PRESENTS", later to become "ONE STEP BEYOND" (1959-1962) "THE NEXT STEP BEYOND" (1978-1979)  was a 25 episode TV series with John Newland returning as the host of  the half-hour format , which was authenticated by actual psychic events, just as in the 1959 series. The distributor, Worldvision Enterprises, formerly ABC Films until 1973, owns both the original and remade series (Worldvision Enterprises, which was later sold to Spelling Entertainment, was both sold to Viacom in 2000, and is now called CBS Media Ventures), The 1978-79 TV series has yet to see an official DVD release. and CBS Paramount Home Video officially released "ONE STEP BOYOND" in 2008, but never followed through with any further releases of the original series.

GOOD SHOW, THANKS.

Even though it never approached the spookiness of the original One Step Beyond, is was great seeing John Newland guide us into "the world of the unknown" once again. Just wish he had stuck to suits and ties as opposed to the casual get-up he wore in this episode (not to mention those oversized glasses!) - it made him seem authoritative yet mysterious at the same time.

TV history lesson: "The Next Step Beyond" was one of the shows created in the1970s as a result of the FCC's Prime Time Access ruling: the networks had to give the 7-8pm hour back to local stations in the hopes of generating a wider variety of TV shows from different producers via syndication than the shows dominating the networks. It worked, sparking  this remake and several other unique and interesting shows - for a while.

It turned out a different show every night of the week did not attract large audiences as did airing the same series Monday through Friday. These one-of-a-kind shows all fell by the wayside, giving way to "stripped" game shows and "Entertainment Tonight"-type series we're stuck with today.

I love unintentional comedy 😅🤟 This show is awesome 🤪👹
