I am Beginner knitter and I am knitting a version of the flax sweater as my first ever wearable  knitting project. (3rd ever knitting project apart from the 5-6 swatches I did to learn knitting and stitches) my first two was cat sweaters I did watching knit along videos and thought of jumping straight in to knitting a top for me. So I got the flax sweater and watched few videos before starting and one was your all the changes you made to the sweater. So it inspired me to do adjustments to my own too. I uncreased the front no of stitches burrrowing from back, replaced the garter panel with a easy lace panel, added a lace panel to front too. My arms are bigger compared to my body so towards the end I started adding more increases to the sleeve side . And came across this video today and I was so happy I to know it is a good decision. I know  I am biting too much with my first  sweater and doing this much changes without any previous knowledge. But I also want to make something to fit my body. I am hoping to add a knitted on lace edge to my hem and sleeve ends (I am making this a short sleeve)  instead of ribbing. Can you tell me if it is a good idea or not. Will it constrict the hems? (I have never done this technique either but I wanted a lace edge as what I am making a summer lace top using the flax sweater)  any cons trying that technique? Or should I go for it?

Love this series idea! My first sweater was raglan and I just finished a top down yoke for my second. Set-in sleeves, drop shoulder, pieced, and bottom up are complete mysteries to me. All the talk around Fair Isle and steeking in the last two weeks has me completely intrigued!

I am actally knitting the Alaska sweater, nice to do all the shaing at the top and colorwork at the bottom, just before the ribbing, I think it will keep my interest, especially practicing ladder back jacquard. There is also colorwork on the sleeves just before the ribbing, great to avoid sleeve island. I love my wooly wool ...

It was life-changing information!

Now, I cast on a size based on my upper bust, and then I adjust based on my full bust, either by casting on more stitches at the underarm, or by adding more increase rounds.

I am thinking I will now be getting the perfect fit every time 😊

14:33 This is why I usually add color work near the cuffs and hem of my top down sweaters, generally some elements from whatever happened in the yoke. I also have to do a lot of bust and waist shaping so that helps with breaking up the mass of stockinette once the yoke is done.

11:11 I am knitting a raglan right now, and I decided to knit the sleeves as soon as I separated for body and sleeves, instead of finishing the body first, and that took care of this problem!

(however I think that you have to knit the sleeves longer because once you finish the body it seems to pull the sleeves upwards and make them look shorter 🤔) .
