Throughout the world, there are numerous examples of highways and thoroughfares which are believed to be haunted by the spirits of previous travellers. Perhaps one of the most gruesome and well publicised examples of this phenomenon is to be found on an unassuming stretch of road, which cuts through one of England’s most beautiful national parks. This week, we investigate the horrifying legend of the Hairy Hands of Dartmoor.

Dartmoor is ancient and magic and strange. There are so many bizarre stories connected with it that I'm not surprised to have heard of this one.

"This week, we investigate the hairy hands of dartmoor" gasps and clutches a razor and shaving gel in horror

A few years ago a friend was driving us across Dartmoor to another friend's wedding and I told everyone the story of the hairy hands to freak them out. It got me curious as to which road the legend was associated with so I used my patchy mobile internet to check, only to discover we were driving down the very road from the legend!

4.18: 'A hand was raised by one of the reporters.' Yes... but whose hand?

I watch a lot of YT on my phone but when there's a new Bedtime Stories video, it's full screen on the TV so I can fully enjoy the AMAZING art work/animations.

If you've ever ridden a motorcycle and sidecar it's a minor miracle that anybody can keep one on the road, straight road or otherwise.

There could be a Bedtime Stories tour of the spots in the UK simply from these stories being put together.

Imagine that huge hairy hands appear on the front of the road while you driving...

An easy winner of the "best title for a video on YouTube" award.

I've traveled that road a thousand times day and night. Never saw a thing. The area is full of myths and legends and can certainly be very spooky.

I literally use these as my actual bedtime stories, to get to sleep.

Love this Channel. In my home state of Pennsylvania there is a town called New Hope, that is said to be haunted by a variety of ghosts. One is said the be that of a male hitchhiker with blonde hair and blue eyes, wears a brown jacket with bell bottom pants and carries either a knapsack or duffel bag. This ghost is said to be that of a young man who was trying to hitch a ride and was killed after being hit by a car in the 1960s.
