Other than skirted furniture, I've had all of these in my home for over 30 years. The reason, because I liked them. Decorate how you like with what makes you happy.
Everything old becomes new again, and some of us recognize these timeless treasures. Thanks for highlighting these. Now let me go dig out my mom's figurines
My home of 45 yrs is constantly evolving. This is the style I have always felt more comfortable in and love your video. It makes me happy because it reflects what I already have. LOVE IT!
I’ve collected like this for about 40ish years! It’s so cozy, beautiful, calming, plus unique, we all have our own ways of decorating, which I love! Love seeing how others decorate making it their own, truly amazing!
Styles come and styles go. My motto to live by is.....enjoy your home, make it comfortable and liveable with the colors and additions you love....not what the latest rage is. So much money is spent keeping up with the Jones'.
Back in 2022 we had moved into our new house, which we had built from the ground up. Unfortunately, the style was in the farmhouse aesthetic. Which I was never a fan of. You might say then why did you build a farmhouse? Well, during that time it was one a terrible time to move a terrible time to have soldier house and it was just a terrible time to begin with. My husband and I clearly were not thinking. My style is more European and traditional. I have a huge Copper collection that has been with me since I was in college. I also have a collection of antique books. Large mirrors that I had found at yard sales Goodwill and thrift stores that someone got rid of. All of these have gold frames and I love them. Also, I have marble tops furniture, which is incredibly heavy, but I loved it and my favorite was the antique bed that I found while going with a friend to look at some chairs at this woman’s house. This bed is absolutely gorgeous. It is one of a kind. I had never seen anything like it. It has rosewood inlay and a very detailed herringbone pattern on it, it also has a hallmark on it as well. It is the most beautiful piece I own. So you can imagine that when I move to my new house, I was stumped suddenly all of my beautiful things looked terrible and old and dirty.(which they were not.) so, I had asked a designer if she could help me rearrange my furniture in a way that looked cohesive with the house and what she said totally shocked me. She said just get rid of it all. I was shocked that she would say that. I guess I was under the impression that a designer would know how to work with different furnishings how to make things look cohesive. She literally told me to get rid of all my beautiful antique books and Limoge pieces because they just looked terrible in the new house. Needless to say I did not get rid of anything. I just don’t invite people over anymore. I love my things. I feel that these are classic. Each piece tells a story and has a history so why should I get rid of these things just because they’re old and they don’t fit the style of my home, only to buy some cheap made in China, white or colorless pieces of glass.
I absolutely love the Victorian era decor, and I’m not surprised that this decor is coming back in style. My home is decorated Victorian because it’s what I love!
Thank you for highlighting classical design, which NEVER goes out of style. Trends should be avoided at all costs. Implement classical elements, whichever style (mid century, arts and crafts, rococo, art deco, Hollywood regency)and you'll never go wrong. We should collect/curate items over the years to create a timeless look. ❤
