Undead Nightmare is the therapy you need for this, trust

Red dead is a tragedy. Arthur warned John and he did what he did anyway, Jack was supposed to be the scholar who was the first gen to be free of the outlaw life and got sucked in to revenge. Revenge being a curse is kinda the theme for this series.

Fun fact jack and Ross first met in 1899 by a river when he was with Arthur

Dutches speech was a call back to when he and Arthur jumped off a cliff when running from the law

damn forgot how much shorter rdr1 is

Fun Fact: The strange man in his final mission tells John "This is a fine spot See you around." That spot is right where he is buried. John shoots at him 3 times but on the 4th the gun jams. Uncle, John, and then Abigail die. Jack survives. Many people think The strange man could be The Devil, God, or Death for this reason.

Don’t worry, Undead Redemption is totally canon so you’ll be happy to play it. ;)

So in a way, Arthur was right, "Dont look back, just move on, you got  a family" if jhon didnt go after Micah eventually the state would kill him anyway and jhon wouldnt leave a trail of clues for chasing micah and making the state locate him, he would probably live his life in peace, i just know arthur was looking strait into jhons eyes in heaven and saying "really? i died saving your ass and you show up here  only 12 years later? them wolfs really made you dumb as rocks"

Man...
That final moment where John looks outside the barn and takes a deep breath in, knowing that he has to die in order for his family to finally be safe, is so heartbreaking but also so good.
Arthur sacrificed himself for John and his family, and John sacrificed himself for his family.

Undead nightamare is a MUST

Honestly, what makes Dutch’s final speech so good is that it feels like the first time in his entire life where he’s actually being honest with himself. His whole character is basically built around fighting against the world changing around him. He always has another plan, another place to run to, another excuse for why things went wrong. But at that mountain top, with some of the exact words he said on the cliff in RDR2 with Arthur, he finally admits that he can't fight change forever.

When he says ““My whole life, all I ever did was fight. But I can't give up, neither. I can't fight my own nature.” it’s basically him realizing that fighting has become his entire identity. He knows the gang is gone, the old West is dying, and there’s nothing he can do to stop it, but at the same time he literally doesn’t know how to be anything other than Dutch the outlaw (or the fighter). That’s the paradox he’s talking about. He understands that he’s destroying himself, but he also understands that he can’t just stop being who he is.

“When I'm gone, they'll just find another monster.” is Dutch prety muchpredicting what is about to happen to John. The government needs people like Dutch to justify its existence and its expansion of power. Once Dutch is dead, someone else can become the next threat that needs to be eliminated. So that they can "justify their own wages".

The “our time has passed, John” line is also insane after playing RDR2. Arthur spends so much of that game slowly realizing that the gang’s time is over and that Dutch refuses to accept it. Then years later Dutch finally reaches the exact same conclusion himself.
Overall just one of my absolute favorite characters in fiction. Rockstar's writing team was cooking up straight heat bro 😭🔥🔥

truthfully unrelated to the story but in rdr2 dutch was talking about his mother being buried in blackwater, and you can see her in the blackwater cemetery in both 1 and 2

Think this ending is deadass sadder than Arthur’s death because at least with Arthur there was some hope with John there’s just emptiness

Undead nightmare now

you can see Dutch spared John’s life when John was chasing him because instead of shooting John he shot straight up

2:37:32 "This IS a fine spot. See ya around, Cowboy." - Strange Man, in the final encounter on the hill overlooking his home in Beechers' Hope

For Jack…was it all worth it? Avenging your family knowing you’re the last member of the Gang who once stood up for you? As their last member of the Vanderline gang,he’s likely to be on the Run just like everyone else. Everyone else who’s still alive probably forgot and abandoned him. Jack is all alone,he has nothing left, even Rufus.

Another great series in the bag. Hopefully, you play undead nightmare next.

And if you want to play something else, it would be nice to see the last of us part 1, resident evil series or another Rockstar game if you're willing to play another one.

2:25:06 There is a fan theory that Red Dead, LA Noir, and GTA all share the same world. You can find John Marston's hat in a trash can in LA Noir, and a book called "Red Dead" by "J. Marston" can be found on bookshelves around GTA V.
